Why are white American men so afraid of a female POTUS?

OP here. But like I said, same can be said about Trump. He is just as morally bankrupt, hypocritical, conniving, and a liar as much as she is. Is that it's ok for a man to be like this because it shows he's tough, but if a woman has these traits, she's just a bad person?

My DH is white and voting for HRC. So, yes, I know there are white American men who don't support Trump. But, a vast majority do. Like I stated, in my mind, he is as bad as she is. So why support him but not her?

Do you honestly think if she said some of the things he has, making fun of a disabled person on national tv, saying hateful things about a religion, an ethnic group, that she wouldn't be called a horrible person? Yet, Trump has said all these things, but his supporters say nothing about his behavior.

He is as arrogant, if not more so, than she is, but I read on here all the time by Trump supporters about how arrogant she is. The backlash she got for not smiling on the CIC forum was very telling to me.

OP here. I do think it's very odd that this country has never had a really viable female POTUS until now, while several western, eastern, and even Islamic countries have. It's weird.

OP, you said white men, not most white men. Gross generalization to stir the pot. Inject a little nuance into your statement and then have a real discussion.

This is just as bad as saying women will vote for Clinton just because she is a woman. Gender is not part of my calculus so why should I assume it is for white men?

There is no doubt that MOST people react according to gender at times when it come to certain things said or done. That does NOT mean they wouldn't support her based on that. You are allowing gender to play too big a part on why most people support or don't.

And your vast majority? Party lines are as they are and most party people can't see anything good about someone from the other. Part of the reason I can't stand party affiliation.

BTW, neither of them are warm and fuzzy people.

OK, so I changed the title -- added "majority". The polls back up how majority of white men, especially non educated, support Trump.

I'm a woman but I'm afraid of a female president if it means portraying the leader of the free world constantly as a victim just because of her gender. I don't think it's a good message for my young daughter.

But you're ok with the message that a male POTUS can make fun of a woman's look? If a female leader did this, you would be ok with that, too?

How has she portrayed herself as a victim because she's a woman? If anything, she has stated that she's had to learn to control her emotions, hide them, because she is a woman.
