I'd never buy another Nissan again!

Also interesting to learn "Nissan caters to a certain demographic." Huh.

+1 What is the demographic? I view Toyotas and Hondas as sort of the cars for "everyone". Subaru I know caters to perhaps a more "outdoorsy" bunch. But who is Nissan's demographic?

I would also like to know this. My husband and I were discussing this just the other day because we don't know anyone with a Nissan. Who buys them? And does Mitsubishi even make cars anymore?

People who really want to by BMWs but can't afford them. I.e., guys with big egos and nothing to back them up, women who want a "fancy" SUV, wear too-tight, cheap clothing and too much makeup.

LLLLOOOOLLLLL

Spoken like a true ignoramus. Do you know a grand total of 4 people? These are caricatures.

My mother dresses about as conservatively as a fundamentalist Mormon and she and my father think spending money on something like a BMW is frivolity of the worst kind.

Interesting. Prior to meeting my wife, my family was a "buy American" family. When we were dating in 1999, my wife bought a 1997 Nissan Sentra with only 12K miles on it. She bought it because after her divorce from her first husband, she didn't have a lot of extra money. This was the best car we found at Carmax in the compact class that she could afford (and she could only afford it because I gave her a gift of about $800 to cover the difference between what the car cost and what she could afford to pay). The car ended up being an excellent car for us. It lasted until 2009 with minimal maintenance and issues. Then again, we did not deal with a dealership or Nissan itself, but took it to an independant shop to maintain and they maintained it well. In 2009 when we finally replaced the car, we sold it to a woman who works at my agency. We told her where we took the car for maintenance and she kept taking it back there. They transferred the records from our name to her name so that they had the maintenance history. Whenever I took our new car there, they usually told me "your old car was in here a couple of months ago...still in good condition." or something like that. She kept it another 4 years before she sold the car. I don't know what happened after that, but at that point, it was a 16 year old car and had lasted 3 owners pretty well.

I have no idea what demographic fits Nissan Sentra owners, but none of the descriptions yet match either of us.

I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue. It's been a really good car and comfortable drive. The only drawback is the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). You need special brakes, fluid, ext and it's not cheap either. My car has about 88k miles on it now and when I take my foot off the brake going downhill the CVT makes a loud zzzz sounds like it's gearing up for something. I took it to three different places and they all said that is normal for the CVT. Also I notice lately that when I accelerate after driving it for about 40 minutes I get that sounds. My next car won't be a crossover vehicle, I would go towards a hybrid or regular fuel efficient sedan.

We just bought a Nissan Rogue (2014, after the design change) and we just drove to Florida and back, with two kids. We love it.

Always electrical problems!

Love my Nissan Altima and maxima. Zero issues

I had a Murano awhile back, before they changed the body style. It was the best car I ever had. I now have an FX35 and don't like it as much, but still like it.

I know 2 people who bought brand new Nissans and both had major problems with them and got rid of them.

Ha - we have two Nissans (Xterra and Altima) and husband and I fit none of those stereotypes. We've had our cars for 7+ years with no issues, which is fantastic after the money pit Jeep we had before the Xterra.

How can anyone call a Honda a piece of "junk??!"
These cars are top-of-the-line in terms of reliability & re-sale value.

Anyway I drive a Nissan Sentra now, but consider myself more of an Altima girl.

Nissan makes more lemons than any other Japanese auto makers. Their design/quality control is just not as good as Toyota, Mazda, Honda, or Sub. Stay away from it.

Subarus, in our case the Outback, kicks butt in the snow. I know lots of people love CRVs and have blind, everlasting loyalty to Honda, but I would take a Subaru everyday over a Honda. I also really like Toyotas. As for Nissans, lady I carpool with drives an Altima. 200,000 miles and not an issue. That said, I too have heard some bad things about them. I guess she got one of the good ones.

We have 2 Nissans and have had zero issues. One is a Pathfinder and we love it (more than the minivan we had). We had a 2002 Pathfinder that we traded for it with high miles, most of them driven in the city, and it still ran very well.

We definitely don't fit PPs demographic. I would never drive a BMW. Yes, we can afford it, but we would rather spend our money on things besides luxury vehicles.

Like a PP I don't like the CVT though. I know it's supposed to give a smoother ride, but when I stomp on the gas I'm not looking for smoothness I want speed!

We've had a Rogue for 6 years, no big issues. I'm not a fan of the new designs so may look elsewhere for another cross over/SUV. If we ever get a second car, Altima has always been high on our list.
