Detroit Man Saves Himself and His Wife from Home Invaders

OP, I really would like for you to answer this question. Why do you feel this story is more significant than all of the accidental gun deaths...which occur daily? Seriously, please tell me why THIS is the gun story you chose to call our attention to.

An accident that was entirely preventable.

Kids drown in pools and lakes. That's preventable too.

Kids drown in swimming pools, with life guards. Clearly, bodies of water larger than 1 quart should be illegal. No one *needs* more than 1 quart of water at a time since that's all you need to drink to stay hydrated. Any containers larger than that need to be registered. All rivers, lakes, and streams will need to be covered and made subterranean, and oceans need to be fenced off.

PP, I really would like for you to answer this question. Why do you feel accidental gun death stories is more significant than all of the accidental car deaths...which occur far more frequently daily. Seriously, please tell me why THIS is the accidental death story you chose to call our attention to.

Because gun deaths are entirely preventable. Completely. 100%.

Yes. The amount of stupidity in America is breathtaking. Most of them shouldn't be allowed to vote, either.

If those are your beliefs...you're not an American

I'm very much an American. BTW,, this is consistent with what the Framers believed, too.

Invader tried to hold him and his wife at gunpoint. Now the invader is dead. Of course if he wasn't allowed to use his 2nd Amendment rights, he'd be dead and his wife probably raped and dead

What's your point? Nobody is trying to take away yoyr right to keep a gun in your house for self defense. We simply want proper background checks, registration and training. Since this man was successful, I have a feeling he would have passed a test with flying colors. Therefore, reasonable gun laws would not have prevented him from saving the day. However, it might have prevented the intruder from getting a gun.

pp here. I would like to take away OP's right to a gun. Seriously. Or, if that cannot be done, let's just tax the hell out of ammunition. Say, $1,000 per round.

You can definitely take someone's right away, just get a constitutional amendment put through. It's very straightforward. Not easy, but can be done.

Also straightforward, but very easy to do, is to make your own rounds? Gun powder, case, primer, bullet, none of these are particularly difficult to manufacturer, even in a small personal workshop. The chemistry and metallurgy involved have been well established for many decades. Enough machinery is already in private hands that this idea of taxing a bullet is laughable.

And deaths related to car accidents are not 100% preventable? Show me a single car accident death case where it was unpreventable.

Pools don't exist for the sole purpose of bringing about death. Bad analogy. Offensive, even.

Guns exist for protection against government tyranny. Ask the Jews. Ask the Iraqis. Guns also exist for self-protection. Sometimes that involves death. And sometimes it's a very good thing.

You're too stupid to own a gun. Please identify yourself so we can come confiscate yours. Thanks.

Come take it

Sure. Post your details.

That's fine. I'll write to my congressman and propose the ammunition tax.

Shrug, a man exercising his privilege and duty as a citizen of a free republic, you go right ahead.

Which is why there are laws regarding pool and lake safety. Pools have to have fences and locks. Lakes have restrictions on when/where you can swim or boat.

So do guns

Guns have to have locks?

That is a stupid analogy and you know it. If half of the country were advocating for the right of every american to drive a car, without being accountable for that car, with no questions asked...then I would in fact be pointing out the senseless deaths where toddlers would be killing toddlers with cars on a regular basis.

It's not the same thing. We all agree that we shouldn't leave kids unattended in a car with the ignition running, even if we've attempted to teach tham car safety. But millions of Americans will leave them in a home with an unsecure g

The framers did believe that most Americans should not be allowed to vote, and yet, even though we now realize that they were 100% wrong about women and slaves we should take the 2nd amendment as gospel.
