Pocahontas - Racist?

Somehow Trump is allowed to lie pretty much with every sentence he utters. I don't get that.

We've solidified our place in the work stage as a laughing stock. With all the issues, it's astounding these make the headlines. Not once did I hear Warren or Clintin talk about how their policies help the American people, or list one of her accomplishments since her 20 years in the political scene.

Trump continues immature attacks I'd expect to hear from 4chan.

We're doomed as a nation is this is the best we've got.

I think you will see in Clinton's speech in Raleigh, she devoted almost the entirety to economic policy and a few minutes at the very end to Donald Trump.

She's not native, i.e. this is not racist.

Not believing the “family lore,” I mean lie.

Lots of people have family traditions of Native American ancestry, and do not have documentary proof. That does not mean they are lying.

Except she did not do that.

Agree. She is the best example of limo liberals. All the policies she pushes for, she won't follow herself.

True. And, the hypocrisy of Warren, being someone who rails against Wall Street, supporting Hillary, someone who is in bed with Wall Street.
So, her phony speeches and outrage against the banks and Wall Street are just for show.

Or she realizes that Hillary supported Dodd Frank, and so has not been in bed with Wall Street since 2009, at least. And Warrren is not against anyone who had anything to do with Wall Street, but opposes Wall Streets attempts to block good public policy on financial regulation.

So how many times do you need to be removed from that proverbial ancestry not to be a liar? Even if she is 1/32, she had absolute zero cultural exposure, so even her "identification" is bogus.

Serious question - so what happened then? I only vaguely recall this scandal, something about grant money and a Harvard directory.

However, they also do not get listed as being Native American in the diversity list of the college.

Total tangent here--on 23andMe, there are boards devoted to this (not to E. Warren, but to this issue). Apparently, tons of people believe they have a Native American ancestor, but they get their genetic results, and they do not. It's some weird epidemic and I have no theory as to why this is.

As to Trump, it's using one word to convey an idea--it's a soundbite, if you will. It's perfectly suited to the mass medium of the day.

I'm now old enough to have enough of a comparison point from the past, so I feel like I'm watching the demise of the West. I try to take hope from in that even the middle-aged ancients were going on about the demise of their culture, so maybe it's just my age, and not so dire of a situation. My friend from China is not worried; she says American government is designed to survive an incompetent (or a variety of negative adjectives) in the Presidency (this label could apply to a few people, not just Trump).

As far as I can tell that was Harvard's decision (law school, not college) not hers.

Again - if she was asked "do you have certified Cherokee tribal ancestry" and she said so, and knew she did not, she was lying.

If she related family lore that she was part Cherokee, which she believed, and had no particular reason to not believe, then she was not lying.

But Donald Trump is, and is also using a racist slur.

I am not sure even that is proof - genetic tests are about probabilities, IIUC.

Who in their right mind would answer "yes" if the family lore was only to be 1/32nd? Is that normal/honest? (And, yes, Trump is the worst.)

Everyone in the state of Oklahoma, for starters. And lots of people in other states, including my DH. No, he doesn't "claim" it, but it is the family lore.

Why is media not calling him out strongly for using "Pocahontas" in name calling? Why is media not strong enough to say, Trump calling anyone racist is just amusing. I am starting to think may be he does not understand what racist mean.

Yes, Trump is a flaming racist.
