Help me to understand transgender identity

I don't really see the issue? I mean we're all going in stalls and you can't see anything. I wouldn't want other women staring at me peeing either. I personally would like to root for unisex bathrooms, but DH says he'd miss urinals too much.

No one is expressing concern about females who decide to live as males.

All of the concerns, not just bathrooms and locker rooms but also sports teams, physical standards like in PE classes or the military, and sexual assaults, perverts using the new transgendered laws to prey on women and young girls, and more have to do with men deciding to act as and live as females.

Even among very conservative or very religious circles, the concerns about the new transgendered bandwagon is almost unanimously about men portraying women.

Or, as I like to think of it, people previously considered men being women.

But it is odd, isn't it? Woman with male genitals in women's bathroom -- PANIC!!!! Man with female genitals in women's bathroom -- crickets. (Crickets also in the men's bathroom.)

Give me one news story about a man dressing as a woman to go into a restroom to assault a female. One.

However, three have always been lots and lots of stories about men having sex with other men in men's bathrooms. (Voluntarily.) Maybe that's why men think this is such a big issue--they are worried they are somehow going to be tricked into having sex with a man in a bathroom, because he looks like a woman? NC and TX legislatures, for example, are 80% male.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is one, given that surely at some point somebody somewhere has done basically anything. More to the point, though -- assault is illegal, regardless of a state's laws about bathrooms and discrimination against people who are transgender. Not to mention that the states that have laws against discrimination against transgender people report that there has been no effect whatsoever on bathroom assaults.

I am a conservative. I don't think lesbian, homosexual, or bisexual behavior is morally appropriate. However, I respect their right to choose the lifestyle they want. Transgenders asking to use womens bathrooms when they are biologically male seems an entirely different application. The last thing I want to see is a man in the womens bathroom. What exactly will transgenders do- will they need/use urinals? Is this in our future?

In the case of transgender, the brain wouldn't be biologically male.

Do a little more research to understand.

Op you wouldn't see someone that looked like a man in the woman's restroom. If he has a penis and is transgender he will identity as she and look like a woman.

Unless, of course, a state passes a law requiring people to use the restroom that matches the gender on the birth certificate they got a birth. Then OP might very well see somebody who looks like a man (and is a man) in the women's restroom. I'm pretty sure that's ironic.

Their chromosones are biologically male.

Their skeletal structure is male. Their reproductive organs are male. Their hormones are male.

OP, how exactly are you going to tell if a transgender person is using the bathroom?

As others have noted, according to your wish, a trans man would be forced to use the women's bathroom even though he looks and dresses like a man, solely because his genitals were female at birth. Isn't that person going to make you feel uncomfortable? Are you going to go up to that person and ask to see his birth certificate?

If you are a woman, your chance of assault in a public restroom is lower than that of trans woman who is forced to use the men's bathroom.

not necessarily. They might be xxy or have some other anomaly. Don't assume that you know everything about a person, down to a cellular and chromosomal level just by looking at them. And wtf is wrong with YOU that you'll be staring at a strangers genetalia in the first place. That's creepy and disgusting.

Anonymous wrote:You DO realize that people who have penises can pee into a toilet, right? That they don't NEED a urinal. It's not like you'll walk into the women's bathroom to find a man peeing into the sink. And that most male bathrooms have a stall or two for people who have vaginas and can't pee into a urinal?

Lastly, they're more scared of us than we are of them. Am I startled to see a man in the women's bathroom? Yes. Do I smile and just ... get on with my business? Yes.

When my DD asked "why was that man in here?" I said 'Because he feels like he should have been born a girl instead of a boy so he just does the girl things."

Men are notoriously terrible with their aim. All of them.

We don't need that kind of mess in the ladies room. Doesn't matter how they feel or what they are wearing.

Didn't you see the "hovering" thread?

+1.

It's not a stretch to get from this bathroom thing to men using the women's locker room at the gym. Not okay with me.
