That way you don't hav to interact with them and they don't have to be home.
Eliminates the drama

Omg. No. Because then she will claim she did what you asked and it wasn't HER fault it wasn't there when you showed up.

But if OP keeps texting and showing up they will claim to not be home, didn't hear the doorbell, etc

I really think that a GOFUNDMe for this jacket is appropriate. It fits all the typical requirements: something unexpected, not your fault, and causing you stress. You shouldn't have to use your own money to right this wrong. Make a page!

She'll be turning it over real quick when an officer shows up to her door.

Please do not call the police department on such a trivial matter.

OP here. You guys are hysterical. We will not call the police, impersonate police, dress as clowns, or start a Go Fund Me page. But we love all the ideas.

I will stop by tomorrow at dinner time to pick up my jacket. If I can't get it back tomorrow, then I'll let it go.

...and let your friendship die

It's not a friendship! OP doesn't even like this couple. Safe to say there won't be any further interaction once the jacket is back on home turf

Please report back, OP. I would love to know how this goes.......

Then you could send her a bill for the cost of a new jacket, and maybe she'd return it to you.

Small claims court is made for this.

+2. I filed against someone and the mere filing got me a resolution. We never had to go to court. It's the principle.

But OP, what about their car? When did they pick that up?

Can you get the neighborhood together to show up at her house chanting "Free the Jacket!"

I think you call again, and if she makes some stupid comment like that, you say in your most serious, most grown-up voice, "Larla, we were happy to host you, and [DHs name] was ok with driving you home, but I need my jacket back. It was a loan, and I want it back."

Do you have mutual friends you could get involved? Next time, don't loan people something you really like!
