Awkward situation with getting back a lent jacket

We just rang the bell and were like "We're going to make you an offer you can't refuse. The jacket for the car keys." The husband was cool (and sober), and gave us the jacket no problem.

I was able to see why DH liked him, but we won't be pursuing their friendship. We just don't enjoy hanging out with people who get that sloppy-drunk.

Why did they leave you their keys?

I'd guess OP and her husband took them because the people were drunk. You don't want drunk people sneaking off and driving away from your house before you can stop them. So easiest just to take the keys once you see they are intoxicated.
