Well howdy do all y'all arrogant lady engineers. We earned it Sorry if some people can't handle it.

Galileo, Cupernicus, Newton, Einstein, Tesla, Edison (ok engineer there)... Well, I think it's safe to say you are neither an engineer nor a historian... |
+ 1 (and I'm a lawyer). |
| Some of the engineers I know are arrogant, but all are f*cking awesome. My dad is a perfect example of the arrogant type. Hoping DD turns out to be the non-arrogant variety. |

Engineering is the art of turning science into reality.

Not true that high IQ = low EQ, but maybe true for male engineers. There are many in my family - being an engineer is hereditary! My husband is one, and he's the sweetest guy one earth but not someone you'd want to tell your woes to. He'd reply with something resembling a spreadsheet.
They aren't arrogant; they just tend to see things a tad concretely, which is why they're good at what they do. A therapist friend, son of an engineer, jokingly told me he was starting a group for recovering offspring of engineers. |

Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1726) Newton was a polymath who made investigations into a whole range of subjects including mathematics, optics, physics, and astronomy. In his Principia Mathematica, published in 1687, he laid the foundations for classical mechanics, explaining law of gravity and the Laws of Motion.
Louis Pasteur (1822 – 1895) Contributed greatly towards the advancement of medical sciences developing cures for rabies, anthrax and other infectious diseases. Also enabled process of pasteurisation to make milk safer to drink. Probably saved more lives than any other person. GalileoGalileo (1564 – 1642) Creating one of the first modern telescope, Galileo revolutionised our understanding of the world successfully proving the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around. His work Two New Sciences laid ground work for science of Kinetics and strength of materials. Marie Curie (1867 – 1934) Polish physicist and chemist. Discovered radiation and helped to apply it in the field of X ray. She won Nobel Prize in both Chemistry and Physics. Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955) Revolutionised modern physics with his general theory of relativity. Won Nobel Prize in Physics (1921) for his discovery of the Photoelectric effect, which formed basis of Quantum Theory. Charles Darwin (1809 – 1882) Developed theory of evolution against a backdrop of disbelief and scepticism. Collected evidence over 20 years, and published conclusions in On the Origin of Species (1859). Otto Hahn (1879-1968) – German chemist who discovered nuclear fission (1939). Pioneering scientist in the field of radio-chemistry. Discovered radio-active elements and nuclear isomerism (1921). Awarded Nobel Prize for Chemistry (1944) Nikola Tesla (1856 –1943) – Worked on electro-magnetism and AC current. Credited with many patents from electricity to radio transmission. Played a key role in the development of modern electricity. James Clerk Maxwell (1831-1879) – Made great strides in understanding electro-magnetism. His research in electricity and kinetics, laid foundation for quantum physics. Einstein said of Maxwell, “The work of James Clerk Maxwell changed the world forever.” |

Looks like you have a lot of time on your hands, LA major. Not time to make the fries yet?
And did #1 actually exist? Let's see some documentation/proof. |
As much time as it takes you to come online and gloat about your major. Could an E major wrote War and Peace or recite the Iliad? Yeah, thought so. |
| I haven't found engineers to be overly arrogant. Doctors, especially surgeons - yikes. |
|
And Fleming since without penicillin we'd be up a creek. Watson and Crick and DNA.
And in assuming it was a scientist/engineer type person who invented the wheel, stone tools, bronze tools, Etc etc. you need both types to make the world turn. |
Yeah, what is up with surgeons? |
OMG. The typos/errors are killing me. Back to your fries, kid. My sophomore year roommate was an English major and I think I did more writing than her that year. Didn't read as much fiction though.

BINGO. I dated a brain surgeon. SO FULL OF HIMSELF- arrogant!!!! We are still friends on FB (I live cross country now -but we ran with the same crowd years ago) - still FULL of it. I am married to an Engineer- been together a long time. Not arrogant. Confident in his abilities - YES. No patience for stupidity - YES. But not arrogant. Can come across as condescending when dealing with people who he perceives to be wasting his time. I know him well enough to know that he isn't trying to be condescending - but if you aren't used to him and his 'ways', I can easily see how it could appear to be. |
