Hey, dumb, sexist physicist, I'm a female engineer! No guy here either! And we will happily take your theoretical plan and engineer it into reality, laughing to ourselves that you really thought your idea would work.

I am a male scientist here. Scientists ask the questions of Why...Engineers, How.
|
| Cause we are actually smart and can fix things. |
| Because everything seems easy to us. |

From Average IQ Profession 130 Physics 129 Mathematics 128.5 Computer Science 128 Economics 127.5 Chemical engineering 127 Material Science 126 Electrical Engineering 125.5 Mechanical Engineering 125 Philosophy 124 Chemistry 123 Earth Sciences 122 Industrial Engineering 122 Civil Engineering 121.5 Biology All of the top smarts professions (except for philosophy) are science/math/engineering (econ is all math). |
Me too - Right on target here. Low EQ. |
| High IQ, low EQ go hand in hand. |
There's only 8.5 points between the top and the bottom of this list. That's hardly definitive proof that one is smarter than another (says the mathematics major). |
And build things. But we respect your think tank job also. OK, not really. We're usually bad liars also. |
So true - if they offend you they likely have no clue that they've done anything. I worked with a ton of old school broadcast tv engineers - they had no social grace. I could t be offended by anything they said because they didn't mean it and has no clue. My favorite one wore a calculator watch? |
| We don't mean to be arrogant. We are just used to dealing with questions that have a right answer. Because we want to get to that right answer, we learn to speak very bluntly to each other, knowing that others will not be offended because they too want to get to the right answer. However, once you move away from the sciences, many things do not have just one right answer. Sometimes they don't have any right answer. The blunt speech we learn to use at our work then doesn't serve us well. |

Lol, I'm a physicist. I know a few bright engineers, but let's be honest, they're not usually the creme de la creme. (I'm mostly kidding this is kind of an inside joke amongst nerds).
I'm not lending you my duct tape. You'd just get all tangled in it trying to figure out some theoretical solution.
Yeah and I'm not giving this guy my WD-40 either
Hey I'm a lady, you dumb, sexist engineer! I'll solve the problem and then use my superior smarts and feminine wiles to make you do the labor. (Again, just messing around I'm sure you guys are brilliant).
Hey, dumb, sexist physicist, I'm a female engineer! No guy here either! Hey ladies and gents, I'm the WD-40 poster and also a lady and an engineer. I don't waste my time on theoretical plans that have no basis in reality! |

It's hard not to sound arrogant when you hear people around you spouting off extremely incorrect assumptions about how things work.
I'm talking to you, metal dog collar person: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/529243.page |
More importantly, what's the standard deviation? -Engineer |
