| I have a friend named Sabrina who goes by Bree and have known her my whole life. I don't think her mom encouraged this nickname, but she likes it. |
+1 none of her peers would make this association at all any by time she'd be applying for jobs the show would be like 30 years old. |
| I know a Sabrina called Brini. pretty cute |
| Love that name and the movie. Wish my husband had picked it. Really nice. |
|
Seriously? The teenage witch? You are all whacked in the head if you truly think this is a valid reason to avoid this name.
Btw, haha to the hummus poster

I really like this name and considered it EXCEPT some of the potential nicknames really don't go with our last name.
I think a longer name like that is more likely to get a nickname. But I think if she doesn't want one, she can correct people I know a Victoria that doesn't let anything but Victoria slide. But it will be her doing that, not you. She might like having a nickname. So I'd be prepared she might be ok with being called one of the nicknames you don't like. |
Personally I would avoid this because of the show . She asked for our opinions and here they are. Think about people your age who know the show. They will associate Sabrina with the teenage witch. |
|
It's my middle name. I love it!
I had a friend named Alexandra growing up. She managed to avoid Alex, Lexi, Alexa her entire life by introducing herself as Alexandra and that's it. |
Ok, but you are the adult. Are you going to tease a child for their name that is associated with a 15-20 year old show? I would hope not. Bout children won't be familiar with this show. Her classmates won't automatically go there. |
| Bout= our |
| Also, I agree with the Audrey Hepburn poster. It's a movie. |
Of course not. But I'm sure her friends parents are going to say, "Sabrina, like the show?" Anyway do what you want. Personally I think it's cruel to do this to your daughter. |

I'm a Sabrina. Never used a nickname, although my immediate family and best friend occasionally call me Bri or Brina.
I was a teenager at the height of the show's popularity, and the only time it ever bothered me in the slightest was when I had a cashier job and wore a nametag. Then, every 4th person was making the joke, and it just got old. "Oh, aren't you clever? Yes, a tv character and I have the same name. Here's your receipt." (I dreamt of saying that. Normally I would just smile and be glad when they left.) It is not as if the tv character was evil or gross somehow. |
Sabrina born in the early 80's here. I was Sabrina like Charlie's Angels. And I can't say it was particularly cruel or hurtful. But the world is probably desperate for another Catherine or Elizabeth

Oh, no, the horror
Have you ever seen actual cruelty? |
