We are all subjugates in some form or another to the ruling class. |
|
All if you "it is what it is" people are complicit to injustice, violence and murder.
How do you sleep at night? If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. This white suburban mom says: Black Lives Matter! |
This is true. And I've noticed that throughout history there have been moments in time when some people refused to accept that. That's why we are no longer a country ruled by a king or where only white men with property can elect our leaders. |
In theory, yes, but in reality Super PACs select our figureheads not citizens. |
Also true and my hope is one day we will rise up against the PACs and take back our government but in the meantime we shouldn't just shut up and accept bad treatment from police officers just because "we are all subjugates in one form or another." |
| No question subjugation shouldn't be tolerated and speaking out against injustice is indeed a moral obligation but the reality is that no society is perfect. Hierarchies exist worldwide and the ruling classes that hold the wealth and the power cannot be upended by mere objection - not easily anyway. Sure speaking out can result in a few laws being passed to pacify and some new regulations being implemented to appease but there really isn't anything that can be done to make life fair. |
The Justice Dept. Has studied these types of disparities extensively. They accept it as fact and support programs to help police departments address it. We are not making this stuff up and it is disheartening that people believe the color of your skin does not matter. It's just not true, as much as we want it to be. |
As a general rule, the Justice Dept. seems to expect outcomes to match population proportions; anything that differs is flagged as discriminatory. In the instances I've seen, they're generally not looking at whether there is a difference in behavior which cause the disparities. For example, this study in NJ: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/03/21/nyregion/study-suggests-racial-gap-in-speeding-in-new-jersey.html This was another instance where people were complaining about racial profiling and when the data was examined it turns out that blacks were speeding disproportionally. When the justice department found this out they asked NJ to not release the study; I'll let people come to their own conclusions about that. |
How willing would you be to accepting a state law amendment that whites automatically are fined doubled what any minorities are fined for any traffic violations. Would you just accept the reality that the law says that for a speeding ticket, minorities are charged $100 and whites are charged $200? Just accept it and pay the fine. After all, the median wealth for whites is about 10-13x the median wealth for minorities, so clearly Caucasians can afford to pay more. That's just the reality and whites should accept it and just pay the fines. It is important that when there is an easily identifiable injustice that we work as a society to remove that. The legal system doesn't promote justice, liberty and equality for some of the people some of the time. |
How willing would you be to live by that if you were the one who was considered a second class citizen? If you were the one that was harassed more frequently and had more restrictions on your rights based solely on some aspect of your person that you couldn't change. Are you willing to live in a situation where at any moment, just for catching someone's eye and not turning your head fast enough is cause enough for you to be harassed and delayed and possibly fined? Do you have to change your behavior to conform to extra unwritten rules that don't apply to others? It's always the dominant majority who don't have to face these challenges who tell those who are most impacted to just accept it. However, it is our obligation to work with the system to change the system so that these types of inequalities are eliminated. I'm sorry that we have the gall to want to decrease white privilege that you so obviously cherish, but the system needs to change. The first step to changing the system is getting recognition that there is a problem. |
Lol I'd be fine with it being that I'm black and I'd have no qualms with whites objecting to such an amendment as one would expect. Nothing wrong with trying to make the world a better place - a fairer place - but reality dictates that we accept what is and adjust not just expect what should be and refuse to adapt. The fact that our society is run by a ruling class is the reality right now. Objection is admirable but still adaptation is essential for survival. |
The Justice Department apparently realized that speeding can be backed up with hard data (radar) and their bullshit would not fly. |
This bring to mind the anger of a former coworker over his son being pulled over for dwb. It turns out his son was 25 miles over the speed limit and it was 2:00 in the morning--so the officer could not k ow his race---but as far as he was concerned the incident was evidence of racism . Sometimes a crime is just a crime and trying to blame racism for illegal acts is a disservice to true acts of racism. |
But when it works, the payoffs can be huge. Think lawsuits at work environments, etc. |
This white suburban man says you are naive and ignorant This white man has come across lots of colored thugs that get away with crimes instead of being locked up. You know nothing about what you think is going on. You are part of the problem. The WSOP that are enablers to the thugs. |
