Your favorite 200 calorie choices for 6 small meals a day?

Not suggesting this...but did you know that most Poptarts are right around 200 calorie each (give or take 10 calories depending on flavor).

So you could have 6 Poptarts a day and only consume 1200 calories. I'm not sure why I'm even mentioning this....haha.

Forgot - avocado, straight up. Love them.

I'd be starving. Yick.

200 calories should be lower carb (not no carb), with protein.

A nice 200 calorie small meal would be small salmon cakes or a spinach, mushroom, cheese omelet.

You would be eating a Poptart every 2 hours from 7am - 7pm. Would you be starving? I am totally joking - I would never do this. But it dawned in me today...for some reason.

You don't know what you're talking about. I'm 44. To lose weight, I have to consume less than 1,200 calories. A little more, I maintain and around 1,500, I start gaining.

I feel your pain. I'm 41, same height and same calorie threshold issue.

Some suggestions:
2 egg omelet with mushrooms, onions, or green peppers, or with salsa
Greek yogurt with honey and/or fruit
Smoked salmon
Tuna on a can, but the one packed in olive oil, drained, you won't need mustard or mayo, IMO
Tomato and mozzarella, maybe add balsamic vinegar
An avocado with homemade vinaigrette put in the hole where the pit goes, eat with a spoon by scooping out
Banana and peanut butter, apple and peanut butter
Watermelon, mint and goat cheese salad
Egg beaters and turkey sausage
A bowl of homemade oatmeal (or even those Quaker instant ones), maybe add a tad of brown sugar or honey
A bowl of chicken noodle soup (but watch the sodium)

Can you recommend your bread?

It's a Trader Joe's 100% whole wheat. I think it says high fiber on it. Sorry, that's as specific as I can get without seeing it.

I just lost 20 pounds by eating around 1200 calories per day as well. I'm 5'3". On Sundays, I make a lot of vegetables (separately) sauteed with a little olive oil and garlic: spinach, zucchini, beets, asparagus, etc. I take a bowl of them to work every day for lunch. For breakfast, I love a small bowl of veggies with a fried egg on top (love the yolk oozing over the veggies)!

Slices of turkey and cheese rolled up in iceberg lettuce.

I also eat a lot of grilled chicken. Again, I grill a lot of it and take it for lunch with some veggies.

I eat am cooking for toddlers and preschoolers so family meals are higher calorie than I would cook for myself. I have little pyrex type custard cups that hold about a cup. I fill that with whatever the heavier main dish is, even if it's rice or pasta, and then bulk up the veggies or salad on the side. But making all the separate meals was driving me crazy. Using the small bowls helped with portion control and made me not feel deprived.

PB2 (powdered peanut butter -a lot less calories and fat than regular peanut butter) with celery or an apple is my go to afternoon snack. I love it.

I also grill chicken on Sunday to eat throughout the week.

I love a fried egg on top of sautéed spinach. Crazy good.

Zucchini noodles are my new favorite food - top with a low sugar pasta sauce with sautéed mushrooms.

I love zucchini noodles, too. Frozen french cut green beans also work great as noodles.

How long have you been restricting calories? I'm 40 and won't gain until I'm eating 2200 or more per day. Easily lose at 1500-1800. I wonder if some of the "can't eat many calories" people have been restricting for so long that their bodies freak out when calories return to a normal level. Not saying that's the case for you. Just wondering how often something like that happens.

Not PP, but I'm the same as her. You're probably just taller or have significantly more muscle mass. I haven't been restricting calories that long.

Ditto. I don't lose until I dip under 1200. I'm 5'7. I don't think it has anything to do with height.

5'9" here. And muscular. And also need to stay under 1200 to lose.
Which sort of kills everyone who has the "calories in calories out" theory. Some people got dealt a crappy hand in the metabolism round.
