No one forces you by law to look at your x-rays or scans. And neither x-rays or scans cause pain. Vaginal ultrasounds are very painful.

Really? I have had many due to polycystic ovaries and I can assure you they are completely painless. You don't need to penetrate the cervix in any way. Where the f*ck do you get your information? Abortions, on the other hand, are painful.

I had a vaginal ultrasound with my first child and it hurt like hell!! Maybe I am tighter than you but my information is from direct and personal experience.
Does sex hurt like hell too? Clearly not - you were pregnant....

The wand is about the diameter of a tampon. Now compare that to your husband/lover, and see if maybe that was the issue.

Don't be such an idiot! The wand is far wider than a tampon and you know it! And do I really need to explain to you what happens to a woman's body during sexual foreplay that does not happen in a doctor's office?! (Maybe I do - conservatives are not known to be or have generous husbands.)

No it's not, actually. There are external wands, which have a flat surface for running over the outside of the body. Don't confuse the two.

Do you really not think that they don't lube the probe cover? Haven't you ever had an internal exam before with a speculum?

Really. Where the f*ck do you get YOUR information? I don't even know what 'you don't need to penetrate the cervix' even means. So it's fine with you having a probe shoved up your body as long as they don't 'penetrate the cervix'. Good to know. And BTW, If you have vaginismus, I can assure you that ANY penetration is extremely painful. I have to assume that you have first hand experience with the pain of abortion, or you would not make the assertion that it is painful. Right...RIGHT?

The mandatory violation of a woman who is seeking a legal medical procedure is effectively rape. It is absolutely outrageous that these sorts of procedures - mostly put forth by men - are allowed.

When opinions like these are thrown around as facts it makes me so worried for our society.

What part of that sentence do you take exception to? 'Mandatory violation'? What else would you call a vaginal ultrasound mandated by law? 'Legal medical procedure'? See Roe vs Wade. 'Effectively rape'? Well, what would you call having a probe inserted into a bodily orifice against your will? These are not 'opinions', these are facts. This issue no longer affects me directly (I'm too old) and I don't have daughters - but the fact that ignorant people like you are out there and potentially have an effect on our laws makes me also 'so worried for our society'.

I'd say don't have the medical procedure if it can't be done safely and effectively. Ultrasounds show where the pregnancy is - what if it's in the tube, and in the process, you rupture the tube? Or the tube ruptures a week or so later because the woman thought she wasn't pregnant anymore. How do you know if the contents of the uterus are completely evacuated? Do you know the risk of infection/bleeding/etc. if you leave even a piece of placenta? What if the uterus has an unusual position (i.e. tipped), is bi-cornate or heart-shaped? An ultrasound allows visualization for the doctor and makes the procedure infinitely safer for the women.

By crying 'rape' at this law, you are setting medical science backwards and putting women in danger. I don't consider that benevolent. In fact, I consider that ignorant.

When an ultrasound is medically necessary, then politicians don't have to write a law to tell doctors to do it.

Yes, they do. Because there are many unscrupulous doctors out there willing to open abortion clinics and cut corners to make a fast buck.

Thanks for the image of Conservatives with stretched out vaginas and PE husbands!

Vaginal wanding didn't hurt me a bit.
I agree that doctors should follow safe practices before conducting an abortion. If my doctor thinks a vaginal wanding is in order, fine.

The govt ordering that I have to submit to a vaginal wanding under any circumstances whatsoever is completely unacceptable. Being penetrated by any object against your will IS rape, as a PP suggested.

I'm the OP and I later found this quote from Walker:

"We just knew if we signed that law, if we provided the information that more people if they saw that unborn child would make a decision to protect and keep the life of that unborn child."

So the purpose of the law is clear. Guilt, not healthcare.

Why feel guilty ? It's not a human life. It's a parasite. A bundle of cells. Right?

This just doesn't make sense...if one is going to have instruments inserted into the vagina, you're saying it's rape? So is an abortion rape? Are you just against a vaginal ultrasound, not a standard ultrasound? And are you saying if you have vaginismus you shouldn't have an abortion because it would be too painful?

CONSENT is the key. If you are bullied into submitting to a TVU because the govt forces you too, that is not true consent. No consent for penetration = rape.

The Wisconsin law only requires an ultrasound--not a transvaginal ultrasound.

What is all this about? An ultrasound is not invasive.

You misunderstood PP's post. Walker's motivation is clearly not healthcare but to guilt the woman.

First off…vaginal ultrasounds are not painful; I've had several. Let's not try and equate a typical surgery to an abortion- removing or repairing a part of one's own body is completely different than removing a separate human from your body and ending it's existence. Those two things are not at all the same. I am a woman who would support the Democratic party but I cannot due to this issue.

Regular ultrasound will not show an early pregnancy - which is when most women will have an abortion. This is simply a waste of money and resources.

Strongly pro-choice here. For some people, abortion is a very serious and difficult decision. It's a potential human life. I would feel guilty if I had an abortion.

That doesn't mean the govt gets to decide that I have to stay pregnant, or try to bully me into staying pregnant.

If we are going to mete out "guilt" for being careless with potential human life, why don't you work on some laws prohibiting the unregulated distribution of semen? If we didn't have so much unlicensed distribution of semen going on, it would cut way down on abortions. Right?

And I am a woman who cannot support the Republican party due to this issue.

Nobody else gets to decide what I remove from my body except me and the doctors I employ at my discretion.
