No one forces you by law to look at your x-rays or scans. And neither x-rays or scans cause pain. Vaginal ultrasounds are very painful.

So you wouldn't mind if it was a regular ultrasound? True, no one forces you to look at an x-ray/ct scan, etc. but a good dr. Explains and shows you what's happening to your body before performing a procedure. Not doing so could even be considered negligent.

Exactly. My niece came within an hour of dying because her tubal pregnancy was missed. Ultrasounds are extremely valuable.

Really? I have had many due to polycystic ovaries and I can assure you they are completely painless. You don't need to penetrate the cervix in any way. Where the f*ck do you get your information? Abortions, on the other hand, are painful.

Really. Where the f*ck do you get YOUR information? I don't even know what 'you don't need to penetrate the cervix' even means. So it's fine with you having a probe shoved up your body as long as they don't 'penetrate the cervix'. Good to know. And BTW, If you have vaginismus, I can assure you that ANY penetration is extremely painful. I have to assume that you have first hand experience with the pain of abortion, or you would not make the assertion that it is painful. Right...RIGHT?

The mandatory violation of a woman who is seeking a legal medical procedure is effectively rape. It is absolutely outrageous that these sorts of procedures - mostly put forth by men - are allowed.

When opinions like these are thrown around as facts it makes me so worried for our society.

How much rage did you see when the Philadelphia butcher killed women and babies during abortions, due to unsafe practices?

Wait, you mean the kind of sub-par doctor women were forced to go to because some group had driven most, if not nearly all, other providers out of the business via harassment, threats and irrelevant regulation?

Hope the operation to remove your irony gland wasn't too painful

Didn't he get life without parole?

What part of that sentence do you take exception to? 'Mandatory violation'? What else would you call a vaginal ultrasound mandated by law? 'Legal medical procedure'? See Roe vs Wade. 'Effectively rape'? Well, what would you call having a probe inserted into a bodily orifice against your will? These are not 'opinions', these are facts. This issue no longer affects me directly (I'm too old) and I don't have daughters - but the fact that ignorant people like you are out there and potentially have an effect on our laws makes me also 'so worried for our society'.

I think a woman who is about to undergo a medical procedure involving her uterus should have an ultrasound. I don't love having a speculum once a year but I agree to that because I want the pap smear. I don't scream rape and ask the doctor to go in blind.

On the abortion issue why is it all or nothing? Can't we have some compromise?

I had a vaginal ultrasound with my first child and it hurt like hell!! Maybe I am tighter than you but my information is from direct and personal experience.

The probe is smaller than the average penis. So I assume these women don't have sex because it's too painful, especially if they have vaginismus? So how many Virgin Mary's are we discussing here?

When you do an abortion, you have to penetrate the cervix to get into the uterus. This is where the most nerve endings lie (hence why labor is labor. Those contractions are dilating the cervix)

You are blowing smoke, which is why you are getting so angry.

Does sex hurt like hell too? Clearly not - you were pregnant....

The wand is about the diameter of a tampon. Now compare that to your husband/lover, and see if maybe that was the issue.

And the u/s probe has less diameter than a speculum.

I'd say don't have the medical procedure if it can't be done safely and effectively. Ultrasounds show where the pregnancy is - what if it's in the tube, and in the process, you rupture the tube? Or the tube ruptures a week or so later because the woman thought she wasn't pregnant anymore. How do you know if the contents of the uterus are completely evacuated? Do you know the risk of infection/bleeding/etc. if you leave even a piece of placenta? What if the uterus has an unusual position (i.e. tipped), is bi-cornate or heart-shaped? An ultrasound allows visualization for the doctor and makes the procedure infinitely safer for the women.

By crying 'rape' at this law, you are setting medical science backwards and putting women in danger. I don't consider that benevolent. In fact, I consider that ignorant.

When an ultrasound is medically necessary, then politicians don't have to write a law to tell doctors to do it.

I had an ultrasound vaginally to check whether I had pcos. No it did not hurt like hell, my dh's dick is way bigger.
