Sooo....my DD likes lunch meat....question

I would suggest skipping all packaged lunch meat all together. Your child doesn't need it and it is horrible for everyone, but especially horrible for a growing brain.

DS likes Dietz and Watson Low Sodium Turkey. We get it from Costco but I believe you can get it sliced at the deli at the grocery store too.

At Whole Foods, they sell turkey at the deli counter that they roast in the store. Try that. You can also get Applegate Farms brand deli meat.

I will buy my kids just about anything. And yet, no matter how much begging he has done, I cannot bring myself to buy Lunchables. Have you looked at what is actually in Lunchables. Ick. Applegate Farms in the vacuum sealed packs are slimy. But, if you are at Whole Foods, buy it from the deli counter and it's much better. Not slimy at all and flavorful. I also buy a lot of Boars Head. So yummy.

My first grade begged too. And begged. Son bought him one. Didn't want to make it even more attractive by banning it.

And he hated it. Has never asked for another. I've never cooked all organic but I've tried to make as much from scratch as possible. So maybe that set his taste buds in the right direction. So your kid may be underwhelmed too.

I think moderation is really the key.

New poster here. What does it have in it? I just looked up the all natural roasted turkey and it doesn't have nitrites. No msg. Just wondering what else to avoid.

Can you do tuna? The light has much lower Mercury than the albacore. I can't remember when I started giving that to my son. Maybe a little older. And not often. Although he eats tuna about once a week now. (He's 8)

OP here. I looked up BH last night and it actually does not spell out the nitrates online. It says to call the 1800 number for further inquiry, lol, and in the FAQs section it has links to why nitrates are ok in deli meat...so I am confused. I actually might call to get more info because BH seems like a great option but I want to know a little more about the nitrates, etc. If I get more info I will post back!

OP here, I LOVE tuna! I just did not think you could start fish with a 12 mo this early? I might hold off on that a bit but I have no objections to tuna fish!

OP here: one last question, to those pps or others who DID give deli mat to your kids were they in the 13mo range or am I way too early?

13mo is too young to feed growth hormones and antibiotics.

Obviously you have entered the incorrect thread. GO troll elsewhere.

Sorry, I thought OP asked if 13mo was too young to feed deli meats. I think it is. Older kids won't be as affected by the hormones and antibiotics.

How is this trolling?

I would suggest ignoring these orthorexics and enjoy foods in moderation.
