I was a certified Boars Head Deli Specialist. Days of training by Boars Head when I worked for Publix. I learned more about Deli meat than I ever needed to know.

Boar's Head is great for older children and adults. However, it still has sodium nitrates in it, so it's better to avoid for younger children.

I will buy my kids just about anything. And yet, no matter how much begging he has done, I cannot bring myself to buy Lunchables. Have you looked at what is actually in Lunchables. Ick. Applegate Farms in the vacuum sealed packs are slimy. But, if you are at Whole Foods, buy it from the deli counter and it's much better. Not slimy at all and flavorful. I also buy a lot of Boars Head. So yummy.

Op here, thanks for all the input, suggestions and especially the Hormel poster

I am going to look further into the Boars head ingredients on their website as well.

Waste of money and not grain or gluten free.

OP, Applegate is a good GF brand and nitrate free. The only thing about processed lunch meat is the sodium.

I would just roast a turkey breast or beef at home and feed it to her. Roast some potatoes and veggies at the same time. Yum!

I was joking about the Lunchables, people. Chill.

You're welcome.

OP, some lunch meats can be very high in sodium. Boar's Head sells some lower-sodium options, not sure about other brands.

Boars Head touts itself as being preservative free. I realize that sometimes they have other things that may be just as bad. But as someone that buys it and knows how fast it goes bad, I can believe it does not have preservatives.

I think moderation is really the key.

I sometimes roast a turkey breast and use my electric knife to slice it for sandwich meat. It's not as convenient, but, like your family, we have diet restrictions and preferences. Wegmans has organic uncured meat at the deli. My kids like it

My DD likes lunchmeat too. She LOVES super pollo.

My almost 3yo eats lunch meat a few times a week and is perfectly healthy. I wouldn't give her deli meat every meal, but once in a while I can't imagine what the problem is.
