Why do St. Pat's people keep saying they are a feeder school to STA and NCS when they are not?

The statistics can be misleading. It could be the same 3-4 boys/gals that are being accepted in all the schools, so the number is potentially an exaggeration. |

No need to snipe at other schools. First, you don't know where the OP sends her children. Second, both Beauvoir and St. Patrick's are seen as excellent schools and I assure you the administration at both places would be complimentary of the other, and would not like seeing that someone is trying to defend one school by denigrating the other. |

Wow, 3-4 kids applied a total of 68 times to St. Albans?! Do you think they used false names and wore disguises to help with their multiple applications? LOL. |

True, but the numbers suggest about 4-5 were accepted a year on average, but the number enrolled could be smaller because these same kids could have been accepted to other schools and chose to attend the other schools. 4-5 accepted a year is not exceptionally high. |

| Is St. Patrick's still planning for a high school? They have the property on Foxhall Road with the massive gate, but there has been little news about future expansion to the high school level. Have they concluded that the "market" in which they would compete is saturated at present? |

Wow, what a ridiculous statement. Some NCS/St. Alban's staff do send there children to St. Pat's but QUITE a few send them to Beauvoir as well, in fact the majority. Not all schools are a good fit for the same children or families. Thank goodness there are so many great schools to chose from. It can not be inferred that St. Pat's must be academically superior and that is why cathedral staff send their kids there. There are a ton of other factors. Also, let's be realistic, among the private schools there really isn't that much of an academic distinction between the early childhood programs. I say this as a very happy Beauvoir parent. I feel pretty confident that my child would get a similar academic experience at NPS, St. Pat's, WES, etc. I also think the school rivalry is stupid. |

Maybe St. Pat's people say this because it is true. Every year they send boys to STA whether for 4th grade or 6th grade or 9th grade. Usually 3 or more at a time. No other school can say this. |

Except for Beauvoir which for 4th grade admissions sends 95% of its students to their 1st choice school--St. Alban's usually being so for the boys. So, at least for 4th grade, Beauvoir really is the feeder school as it should be since it is on the close and part of the Cathedral schools. |

Really? You want to parse this much? I have no dog in this fight as DCs are not at any of the schools discussed in this thread. But when we made decisions on where to send DC1, we did not look @ either Beauvoir or St. Pat's as both seemed to be feeders to the SS schools on the Cathedral close. In retrospect, I know a number of families from both schools who sent their kids other places. But on the face of it, I would still say that the two schools are feeders to the upper Cathedral schools with Beauvoir sending more of its grads. |
