Am I too old to wear Doc Martens?

I wear the vegan docs. 47 yo. I get compliments.

I'm 40 and I wear Docs. I think they are timeless. I'd be impressed to see a 60 yo rocking them! That said, my last pair was made in China and they were sad.

I'm curious about this too. Still, I'd wear them...

I'm going to bring this back from the dead to say cheers to the OP... I pulled my Docs out for the winter last week and that reminded me of this thread. I bought my first pair of Docs in the early 80s (time for my nap) but realized I much preferred wearing my raspberry suede John Fluevog creepers these days... Similar in style, made in Canada (not China, like so many of the current Docs) and comfy as all get out. Embarrassed to say I've got a dozen or so Vogs of various ages (1 pair from the 90s going strong) and I love the Georgetown store.

Depends on what you like I suppose and what you like to look like. And what your profession is.

When I think Doc Martens? I think manly woman that would kill me on a side street very quickly. I also think mullet. I also think female bouncer at a questionable bar.

To each his/her own.

Nope. Docs are work boots in the UK. They are not fashion statements. They are staples. You aren't too old to wear them. Ever

DH is 53 and has worn Docs for his entire adult life. His only complaint is some of them are not made in the UK anymore and something about how the eyes have changed.

You sound very repressed and provincial.

I'm in my 40s and I just got the new style of Dr Marten's chelsea boot:

I love them. They're my first pair of Dr Marten's in maybe 20 years.

What do you wear them with?

I would generally wear them with long maxi skirts, or with capri pants (I don't wear jeans at all, and I don't wear shorts). I only wear black, and I mostly wear long skirts, or black pants with tunics.

That's an interesting look

that's one way of putting it.
