If you serve beer at a party, what kind?

Miller light.

I like your style, PP!

Variety packs of Sam Adams are a good way to go, but if you want to do local beers, try a Starr Hill variety pack (based out of Charlottesville). DC Brau has a good selection too in cans. We like their pale ale as a good all around beer, and you could get a couple different kinds of their beers and be in good shape.

Magic Hat #9 is another good solid beer choice.

I'm from St. Louis so we are pretty well covered by Bud Heavy, Bud Light, and Natty. Then we add in some Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat, Schlafly IPA, and if we can get ahold of it, some Yuengling (it's a 4 hour drive to acquire it).

I typically buy Miller lite and a few sixes of random microbrews that I've seen on tap at the bars. (Sam Adams various seasonal beers, maybe some Shiner Bock, etc.) Some liquor stores will let you mix six packs, and some will have samplers that have 3-6 different beers in a six-pack or case, which is cool because people get a choice. I will usually grab a local six too, like Dogfish Head or DC Brau.

I always get a selection - sam adams, miller lite, bud lite etc..also some Japanese and Indian beers. Mix and match!

I would do Heineken, Yuengling and Fat Tire. We don't drink Sam Adams because we are anti Boston

I can't believe there are no shout outs so far to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (or maybe I missed it). Anyway, just my opinion, but I think this is the perfect beer.

I've never tried a Sam Adams that I didn't like. Dog fish head are good too but more pricey. I'm from up north and love Great Lakes, I'm not sure if they ship it to DC area but if they do their variety pack is great.

My husband likes Sierra Nevada but I've never liked it. There is something weird about their flavors.

We always get a variety...Sam Adams, Blue Moon or Shock Top, Dos Equis Amber, and Corona for a large party.

I would definitely suggest having light beers on hand. Don't just go with heavy lagers and IPAs.

Red Stripe

We generally get corona.

Fat Tire is fantastic! Sam Adams or Yeungling are always crowd pleasers.

Blue Moon is popular but terrible...a big brewery answer to Belgian beer. Tastes like soap.

+1. It's Big Brew's effort to cash in on the craft beer craze. Don't be fooled.

Yay for Starr Hill and DC Brau.

Magic Hat #9 has a slightly fruity, apricot-y flavor that is popular with women but not so much with most men.
Bad news, though. Magic Hat was recently purchased by Coors. Their standards are probably headed downhill; their ideals certainly have.
