are you suggesting that i wear drawls? my bras i fold like once cup inside of cup. my panties not big at all but i guess i just like order and couldn't deal w/balled up panties. |
PP again. I rarely care what pair I put on! They are literally all the same style that I stock up on when Victoria's Secret has a 6 or 7 for $25 sale I only have one matching bra/panty set so it's not usually a concern!
In reference to another PP's question, yes I separate my and my boyfriend's laundry and wash separately. I also wash his work clothes separately from both of our normal clothes. He is a mechanic and man, his work clothes get REALLY smelly. Also, I was a load of towels separately from everything and sheets/duvet cover and comforter are two separate loads too. |
I even fold my Dd's size 2T/3T undies, so you can fold them no matter how small. My mom taught me how to do it when I was little and she was teaching me how to fold laundry. You lay it out, face up. Fold the crotch up about 1/2 way. Now, take one side and fold it 1/2way in. Do the same with the other side. Turn it over. You have now folded your undies into a nice little "packet" and you can stack them nicely in your drawer. Or, you can stack them side-to-side, so you see all the colors at one time. |
+1 |
I did when the kids were potty training because I needed to add oxyclean or the smell of even small pee accidents wouldn't come out otherwise (fragrance-free detergent.) Now everything goes together but I do separate by colors - white/dark/in between. |
I used to fold. Stopped a year ago in a moment of clarity. So liberating!! |

I fold laundry on the kitchen counter. It is just a back-friendlier height for me than a bed or sofa. I probably got the idea of doing that b/c my parents put their old kitchen cabinets in the laundry room when they did a renovation (with a huge laundry room) in the 80s. I usually listen to happy music while I fold, although sometimes the TV will be on in the next room.
Clothes coming out of the dryer get sorted into three groups: hang immediately (pants, skirts, dresses, dress shirts); a stack to fold neatly at a later time (shirts, leggings, shorts), and basket for fold eventually (socks and underwear). We have a hanging rod in the laundry room. Items that don't go in the dryer are also hung to dry. Once all the clothing loads are done, I fold all the shirts and similar, piling by person and type (short sleeve, long sleeve, etc). Once I'm through all the shirts, they go in one basket per person. Then I sort socks and underwear by person, then fold or roll as appropriate. Bras get nested inside each other into a stack (isn't good to fold them). Towels are also folded in the kitchen. I usually just put the sheets back on the beds as that's just easier. If they aren't going back on the beds, they are also folded in the kitchen. |
I have four kids and do what that person does. |
| I don't fold my panties into a packet. I just fold them in half. A friend of mine (I helped her organize once, which is why I know) just lays all her underwear in one neat, flat pile. No folding at all. |
This would bother me each time I opened my dresser drawer and saw everything there in a big bunchy mess! Wouldn't be liberating at all! Would drive me up a wall! Liberating would be knowing that it's done and organized, so each time I don't have to open up the dresser drawer and see a big mess! Awww, peace. . .organization. . .all is well in the world. . .

I fold or hang everything as it comes warm out of the dryer, then it goes into the appropriate piles radiating around me on whatever surface is handy in the laundry room. Then those piles go into the laundry basket to be taken upstairs. I don't care if towels cool off in the dryer, but it drives me crazy when clothes and sheets get wrinkled because they're left in the dryer to cool.
When my oldest was a baby I washed his precious snookums clothes separately from our vile adult clothes, in special snookums extra-mild baby detergent but after a few months I gave up on that. The youngest is just lucky that I didn't wash her stuff with dirty dog towels. I am fanatical about seperating colors, though. |
I do what you do. I sit on the floor of the family room and fold/organize there while I watch tv. |
