Yes, obviously you have contributed much substance to this discussion. |
This is a faux controversy, much like the foolish Duck Dynasty and numerous other conservative outrages. It caters to the lowest common denominator and makes people feel comfortable with their prejudices. Because that is what this is. Say it until repeated: The US does not have an official language. You can get all spun up but at the end of the day, that's it. And, frankly, those of you getting spun up look silly and a little stupid. Channel your energy toward something constructive. Because this is not. |
However, with a few small exceptions, you do have to take a test in English to become a naturalized US citizen. And, for the record, our Constitution was written in English. |
| Our laws are passed in English. If you want to assimilate and participate, English is advisable. |
The first PP just ridiculed Obama. He must be a follower of Alinsky! And, the brain dead conservative never lets up from responding by claiming something is an Alinsky rule. She is also an Alinsky follower! Who knew there were so many conservative Alinskytes? |
| Well, The Conservatives are finally learning the rules. It took a while. |
No, they are finally admitting to what they do. |
| Same hyper-emphatic anti-immigrant folk are the ones most animate about finding foreign teens to use for sexual gratification. |
very dumb comment that makes no sense |
|
So everyone here is okay with illegal aliens? Wide open borders? The more the merrier? Need help, then come here so our taxes can pay for you? No need to have people wait to become US citizens? Just walk, fly, boat right in. Stick your middle finger up at everyone doing it the legal way? Stupid idiots following the laws, aren't they?
Is that what all your liberals think is the cool thing to do? |
Why are we talking about illegal aliens? This is about whether people should sing America the Beautiful in other languages. Who said illegal? |
Not the PP but the last 2 pages where about people bashing another poster about Spanish speaking immigrants. Because someone can not dislike something like the coke commercial unless they are "racist against Spanish people" That all said, I personally am against singing an American made song in other languages. What is the point? I don't sing other country's important/cultural/national anthem-type songs in English. It is disrespectful. |
Why? American is not a language. We don't have a national language. Our country is comprised of people who speak many languages. Our diversity is one of our strengths and should be celebrated, not hidden. |
First of all, You sing My Country Tis of Thee. You are singing another country's national anthem with the words rewritten. How is that any less disrespectful? |
| and second of all, why is it disrespectful to sing an anthem in another language? |
