I just need to write it down somewhere... Bray & Scarff sucks

They are awful. I bought a washer from there and was told it had features it did not have. It took weeks to get them to return it. I would call, they would tell me that the salesguy would have to call me back, and he wouldn't. I'd call back, same thing. I went to the store with my son in tow, thinking I'd guilt them with a 2 year old. Then the story was that they would take care of me, but they had to call the manager, so...yes...once again they would call me back. The amazing thing is with each step, they sounded sincere. Soon it was pretty apparent they were just trying to get me past the time limit. So I called their HQ, informed them that I had written down all thes steps and was calling the better business bureau. That did the trick.

I had a Bray and Scarff installer make lewd gestures at me years ago, in my home. He grabbed onto his groin and started moaning, then asked to use my bathroom. He "associate" yelled at me because I wanted them to use the side door.
I did not complain because I thought the guy was so nuts that he would come back and kill me if they fired him.

Omg. Tried them again after years of swearing off them. Still horrible. Delivered broken new dishwasher. Never again. This time I mean it.

Amazing- I thought I was the only one with a problem. The intaller refused to hook up the ice maker to my refrigerator because the "link was too old" (what link?).

When my washer broke three weeks after their warrantee expired I was told to get a new one.

When the repairman told me that he could fix my dishwasher if I could "take care of " him (what does that even mean? extra money? sex? cookies and milk?), I gave up.

we referred to them as "Barf and Scrap" because agreed. terrible!

I had a great experience not too long ago with M&M. They were so much more helpful on the phone.

YES. That's the worst IMO.

OP here. Going on day 27 without my washer. B&S promised they would be here today and alas, they still "don't have the part." They did tell me I should contact the parts provider myself. Apparently the service contract was purely ceremonial.

We have finally bitten the bullet and bought one from Lowes, per one of the recommendations here on this thread. Thanks to everyone for their input.

We had a horrible experience too. Much better luck at M&M Appliance!

Thank you the valuable information -- we will be remodeling our kitchen soon, and B&S was one of the places I was considering for appliances. Not anymore!

Just to provide a contrarian viewpoint, we have had nothing but good experience with the Bray & Scarff in Bethesda. When I have a service issue, I just call our salesman and he takes care of everything. The sales people in Bethesda seem to understand that building a good relationship will lead to return sales (which it has in our case).

I had a bad experience in Bethesda. New washer broke. Took weeks to get part. Part came. Repaired. Repairs did nothing. Guy said he didn't know what else to do. So instead of using b and s warranty I called the manufacturer. They sent someone out the next day who fixed it. I had made the b and s guy give me the old "broken"part, and the second repairman said there was nothing broken about the old part. Never ever again.

I wish I would have found this thread earlier - we walked through the door in JULY 2015 and put a down payment on all new high end appliances - long story short it's December - I'm looking at a pile of boxes in my kitchen (Wolf cook top - dishwasher etc.) - we have been without a functional kitchen since July. I am so upset about this I've actually almost given up. They have our money - we paid for everything - RUN don't walk. Oh - last week they said the Microwave wouldn't be available for 6 more weeks they forgot to order it. This is my first salvo to the world... I am preparing to go to war. Wish me luck.

I had a bad experience with bethesda too.. totally got the run-around trying to get a rebate from them. For months. I think they finally sucked it up and gave it to me, not through the company (?) that was supposed to do it. I don't even know.

Was trying to buy local, but will use Lowes or Home Depot next time! We've had luck with random service companies - no need for the specialized BS.
