I just need to write it down somewhere... Bray & Scarff sucks

I"m amazed -- I have had only good experiences there! I shop at the Rockville store.

We had really good washing machine repair service from the "Service master" location in Centreville. I think the guy runs it out of his house, but they fixed something rather than order a new part, then when we had another problem (not related) they came and fixed it really quickly and didn't charge us at all.

I hate this store!! Tried on 3 occasions to get prices for a full suite of kitchen appliances (Wolf/SubZero) and couldn't get a #%$#% salesperson to give us prices. WTH??? Don't they want a $30K (approx) sale?????

Never again.

I agree that sears sux, we tried to buy a wall oven and the guy there sold us one that didn't fit! Then it was hours of phone calls trying to get it returned/credited.

Bray and Scarff actually came through for us and measured the space before they sold us another wall oven to make sure it fit, and this one was of two models they sold that did. (Older home, so needed a 27" model instead of the standard 30" model now).

Now we've only had it for a year, and I haven't bought the service contract. we shall see how this all holds up.

+1 We bought a fridge, also at the Rockville store, and did not have any problems. But, we did not go with a service contract.

Sears screwed us royally on our central air in our house. It took the 5 weeks in our house installing it in dribs and drabs--the duct work done was clunky and hideous--had to have it all pulled out when we reno'd a year later--they left gaping holes in the wall and charged us 14k. It was the worst appliance install experience in my 20 years of home ownership.

Huh, we bought a Kitchenaid dishwasher from the Fairfax store a few weeks ago and it went great. Tried to buy online from Lowe's first, but they needed us to come into the store to sign the installation contract, so we did, waited forever for our turn with the appliance salesperson, only to find out the model wasn't in stock and would take 10 days to come in. Gave up, went home, saw on B&S website they had the model for a great price, called the store, paid over the phone with cc, and they came and installed it 3 days later. A breeze.

As a rule, we never bother paying extra for service warranties anywhere bc they've been shown to be more of a profit center for stores than a benefit for customers.

We waited one whole month to get our brand new range fixed, only to be told it could not be fixed. Thank goodness we kept the old range.

They did let us exchange it for a completely different thing (wall oven and cooktop), without any grief.

Wow, good to know.

When ours crapped out Lowe's had a new one here in 2 days.

Wow. I'm nervous now b/c I just yesterday bought a washer and dryer from bray and scarff, and we made a point of buying it from them so that we could rely on their service contract since W&Ds are so prone to breakdowns. They did match the price that Home Depot was selling for, so at least I know we didn't pay the B&S premium. We bought a refrigerator from them 5 years ago and had no problems with it so never needed to use our service contract. I hope the same holds true this time!

I will NEVER use B and S again either. Outrageous prices for horrible service. It was the one on Lee Hwy. in Arlington, when i lived in McLean. Never again.

I'm sorry OP. Love your idea of letting the kids roam wild though.

We looked at B&S when we renovated the kitchen and the prices were astronomical, the proposed design was not at all what we requested and the saleslady was snooty. Needless to say we did not go with them...

Hate, hate, hate them. Had a terrible experience last year, and honestly I don't remember the details because I blocked them out -- it was in the middle of getting my house ready to sell and it is all a blur now. I just remember that they sucked and I vowed never to use them again.

Terrible -- buying a "built-in" microwave... that part was easy...install just sucked...dinged that cabinet double changed charged because the had to put some scrap wood in to level it. Called headquarters to complain next day and was basically told to stuff because I didn't call the same day... and could of refused the service. AWFUL!

Apache Appliance, has been great to deal with...and good prices too.

Bray and Scraf does suck and whoever they use for their service warranty sucks even more.
