Wow, I realize how long I’ve been on DCUrbanmom because I recognized one of my posts on this thread from 2013.
The only reason I use Bray and Scarff is that we have such an old kitchen that some of our appliances don’t fit otherwise. Plus we had such a poor experience at Sears and sometimes with Home Depot or Lowe’s. I would only use bray and scarf if I had a specialty experience that I needed that I couldn’t get from Home Depot or Lowe’s. I would never use sears again of course but they’re mostly gone |
| Second the comments about going in and being turned off by the sale people. I wouldn't buy anything there after that. We had researched a lot and knew exactly what we wanted to look at, but the sales guy was so arrogant and annoying that he just kept insisting we wanted something different. Finally had to just ask him if we could look on our own. |
NO NO. I own several rental properties and since past summer have Experienced delays in appliance delivery from most all retailers, including Lowe’s, Best Buy, HD. The credit goes to Covid. In fact, Bray and Scarff was the sole reliable place that was able to get DW delivered and installed within a week, albeit I paid through the nose for it. I usually purchase appliances at the big box stores So but a regular customer of Bray. They just came through me. Again, from my experience there has been and will continue to be a delay with getting specific appliances due to supply chain disruptions via Covid. |
| I had a great experience with Bray and Scarff 2 months ago. The Speed Queens I wanted were in stock and delivered in 3 days. Everywhere else I looked had a 2 month delay in delivery. |
| I ordered and paid for a garage refrigerator from B&S in Early July, and was told they were getting the shipment mid-August. When I called in late August, they said September. In September, they said October. In November, I went in the Home Depot website, ordered the exact same refrigerator for less and had it delivered four days later. The only thing B&S did well was my refund. |

I have tried twice to make an appliance appointment online.
Twice. Called them. They told me to use the website. So... nope. I’ve had Costco do two sets of appliances. |
Does Costco come to fix things when they break? |
Nope. But you can return them and they will refund the purchase price no questions asked. |
| So, if BRay is so bad, where else does one buy high end appliances like wolf and monogram? |
There are plenty of options in the area - ABW, M&m, etc |
| I agree with you, OP! I've also had bad experience with Bray and will never use them again. |
| I used them to buy a new cooktop last month because my parents had always used them. I was told 2 to 3 weeks for my cooktop to come in. I called yesterday and it looks like it could be another 3 to 4 weeks. I've reached the point where I needed to buy a hot plate because there's only so much I can make in my oven and crockpot. |
| m&m is my ride or die. not always perfect but they do the job. |
Same. We got a fridge last month when you couldn't find a fridge anywhere. The salesman had said there was some kind of rebate we could put in for after the date, but then when we got the paperwork it didn't have it. My husband emailed them, and the salesman called him within hours and took care of it. It's the B&S in Tysons; not sure if that matters. |
We just got a fantastic price on a new fridge and dishwasher at ABW in Rockville. Granted, we have no idea when we'll actually get them, but fortunately we still have working appliances in the meantime. They definitely cater to high-end brands, but their prices seemed very good. |
