Basmati rice is awful. I got a hippy wife that keeps bringing home weird stuff like that. Basmati tastes like overcooked noodles. I feel anger just by looking at it. I also hate quinoa. That stuff sucks out loud. Who wants gritty sh!t in their teeth?

What do you like to cook?

But DS had some star trek movie on and the bad guys were putting nasty alien parasites in the good guys ears and now I can't eat the macaroni pesto I made - reminds me of the bugs now.

I remember that episode of New Generation.

Your wife can't cook. Quinoa shouldn't be gritty.

Yeah, and basmati shouldn't taste anything like noodles. Your wife is a bad cook.

+3. Why don't you start cooking instead. She needs to stay out of the kitchen.

Np. I agree that Quinoa isn't gritty but it has a weird texture and almost feels like the grains are popping when you eat them. I really, really don't care for quinoa and I have tried..

Basmati rice on the other hand is delicious. It has a drier texture than regular rice but tastes so good buttered. Yum. I hardly ever eat it because of the carbs though.

I saw that movie when I was a kid, and to this day I have to sleep with a blanket or my hair covering my ears for fear an alien parasite might crawl in if its uncovered. And, yes, I understand that is neurotic.

I realize this post is 2 years old but even just reading about that Star Trek scene is bringing back all my fears.

It isn't fattening.

Basmati rice is over hyped. Joha rice is so much better. When there is joha why would anyone eat basmati. Yikes.

My husband is from a country where rice is a part of every meal. The first time he smelled/ate Basmati, he thought there was something seriously wrong with it.

Thank goodness he's gotten over it, but he still prefers other rice to Basmati.

I hate it because it was a staple in my family growing up and we had it almost every day. But spiders? No.
