Does anyone else hate basmati rice?

I thought I was being sensible when I considered the organic brown rice I’ve been purchasing seemed a bit pricy, so opted this time around for a Texmati brand of basmati rice. It didn’t look unpropitious among the other rices on the shelf. Im eating it now. The depth of my sheer disappointment is what brought me here. I can’t agree more with your likening of this god-forsaken species of rice to gritty over cooked noodles.

It tastes like rice. I like it.

I've never met a rice I don't like. Each has its place, for sure. Short grain for risotto, sushi, accompaniment to stir fry. Jasmine rice with curry. Basmati is neutral enough to fit into pulao, biryani, or loaded with butter and salt as a random side dish to anything.

I think you need to see a psychiatrist.

Do you mean those overpriced tiny plastic tubs or thick plastic sacks sold at the supermarket? Those rices are always mealy and broken and musty! Go to HMart or another Korean market and get a 20 lb bag of pretty much any rice and it will be delicious.

I can only compare the taste to spiders. I don't eat spiders and never have, but it's just what I imagine when I taste the rice. Does anyone else really not like basmati rice?

WTF?

I don’t hate it, but prefer jasmine rice.

There is good basmati rice and there is bad basmati rice. The good stuff is divine for pulao and biryani.

Basmati is my favorite type of rice.

I cannot stand short grain rice unless it’s sushi. I like Jasmine rice well enough but will always reach for the canister with basmati when cooking.

How to spiders taste different from other bugs/insects that are dry and leggy?

I completely agree with the person who replied 5 years later....
I can't stand it
The texture, it's dry, it's long...I Googled I hate basmati rice just to see if it was just me.

No. It should be in the health forum because a person who thinks rice tastes like spiders when they’ve never eaten a spider clearly has health issues.
