Does anyone else hate basmati rice?

Sorry I misspelled raisins in my emoting about the king of rice. Please get some therapy - it is the best!,

Heck no! I love it, especially with some good Karahi (sp?) chicken and other items. I feel like it could go well with many dishes.

But DS had some star trek movie on and the bad guys were putting nasty alien parasites in the good guys ears and now I can't eat the macaroni pesto I made - reminds me of the bugs now.

I saw that movie when I was a kid, and to this day I have to sleep with a blanket or my hair covering my ears for fear an alien parasite might crawl in if its uncovered. And, yes, I understand that is neurotic.

Don't watch Brokedown Palace. Bugs in ear in a womens' prison.

how awful!

I like it , but since the report came out about the lead in Asian rice, I haven't been able to eat it.

One of my favorite foods, but I quit eating it due to GI rating.

My dad is with you, OP! He eats a lot of rice, and will only eat short grain. He really really dislikes the smell of basmati rice.

Love basmati rice, but I'm Indian

FYI for those looking to work on their pronunciation of ethnicy foods, it's pronounced "BUS-muh-tee" rather than "baaz-MAAH-tee"

It's wonderful. What a strange post from this OP.

Does anyone hate it when people don't post obvious food questions on the FOOD FORUM?????? Although I have to admit, likening basmati rice to eating spiders should maybe be in Health and Medicine.

Thanks for posting this. When I saw it, I remembered that I had put water on the stove to boil for rice and had forgotten to check on it!

This is the most random topic I've ever seen.

Hmm, I'm Indian, and we've always pronounced it BAS-muh-tee. But, agree that it's not baaz-MAAH-tee.

Though, like another PP mentioned, we've limited our rice consumption, so I don't eat it as much as before. My mom won't even touch the basmati rice from India. I think the link talks about it, but the rules are a bit more lax there, and all sorts of crap could be getting in the rice.

There is a company that makes it here in California though. Not sure if that's any better from a lead/arsenic point of view?
