Talbot's for someone in their 20's! God no! It is for much older women, not young women.

Yes, I realize that Talbot's is geared towards 50-plus matrons, but that particular dress struck me as something that a young woman without much cash or experience would wear. I thought it looked cheap and flimsy. Sorry.

what about something like this? it looks like kay unger, one of my favorite dress designers, is now working with ann taylor, which is a great thing -- her dresses are terrific and most of them fit short women pretty well. neiman carries her stuff, too.

ann taylor has a 20% code until tomorrow, so this dress would be even cheaper.

or one of these, maybe?

I've decided to go for the blue dress from Talbots instead of the Aztec on from Neiman's. Mainly because of cost, and because I think the blue is more appropriate to the occasion. But I do love the Aztec dress and think the Neiman's poster should be a personal shopper.

I'm confused about shoes. Can you wear peep toe shoes in the fall? With stockings or without?

What do you think of these:

I know they're a little racy. But I like the cost, the height, and the bow. Festive.

Thoughts?

OP -- please do not go with those shoes!!!! They look like porn star shoes!
I think you can wear peep toe shoes in the fall, but definitely NO stockings!

Please keep looking. I think you can do better.
Perhaps the Neiman's personal shopper has some suggestions.
Way too young for the blue dress.

Great ideas. OP, please take this woman's suggestions. I say buy the whole outfit -- #3 is best IMO.
good luck and have fun!

Oops, I assumed you were younger. I still think that the first one can work for you, but you have have to get it shortened.

What age range do you think these dresses work for?

There is a special place in hell for you, PP. For you to state this, after I stated that I intend to wear the blue dress, and that part of the reason is because of the cost, is just gratuitously mean.

Thanks for this suggestion. When you say metallic -- do you mean silver-ish? And what color stockings would you wear with them?

i'm not sure what the pp means by these dresses looking "younger" because i could easily see these on an "older" woman. the personal fave looks the oldest of all.

My vote -- regardless of the shoe, NO stockings.
