Again, just stop it. The schools in both North Arlington and McLean are great. Although North Arlington does have somewhat smaller classes, Yorktown always scores a bit below Langley and McLean, and W-L a bit below Marshall. There is no valid reason for the two of you to engage in a silly pissing contest. |
| Chesterbrook is a nice area with a relatively good commute to DC, great community spirit centered around schools, sports, and swim clubs, and very good public schools. The houses here are also more affordable than those in the Langley neighborhoods of 22101. |
It's a good sign. 20 years later than Arlington, so there's a lot of catching up to do... |
They want some additional sidewalks. They certainly don't want the whole area paved over like much of Arlington. If the choice is between Chesterbrook without sidewalks or Big Yellow Taxi, most would take the former. |
Funny way of phrasing that. Walk much? |
Yes, but not only on concrete. |
There are plenty of neighborhoods in this area with sidewalks. People who buy homes and then complain about lack of sidewalks are like the people who buy homes near the airport and then complain about the noise. |
The pro-sidewalk movement is gaining momentum in McLean. It's the latest trend for the millennial and gen x families moving in. They like the rural character of the neighborhoods but they want some of the urban lifestyle they left behind. |
Not many Millenials moving into McLean yet; it's too expensive. Most newcomers to McLean are Gen X and even tail-end Baby Boomers, with lots of older Baby Boomers staying put. There are more kids than 10 years ago, but fewer people in their 30s and 40s, which suggests that the people who are moving there now are having kids later and/or larger families. |
| Pimmit hills has awesome sidewalks |
I'm all for sidewalks -- in fact, I think it's crazy that so many roads were designed without them -- but why would you call them urban? Sidewalks belong anywhere -- suburban or urban areas. |
Great to hear, yet again. On the plus column, Chesterbrook has nice houses, a great community pool, and few, if any, chain link fences and homes with multiple pick-up trucks in the driveway. |
Again you must be trapped in the 80s |

No sidewalks means squeezing through this on a constant basis because most of the people park on the street
