Really you know this specifically about secret service or are you trying to pretend they are the same as the army? In case you hadn't noticed you don't just sign up for sec service and bam you are protecting the president. Last minute travel is not a reason for seeking prostitutes and sec service is not deployed in a war zone for a year or more. |
Gee don't know what to say except you managed to turn marital fidelity into a bad thing. Glad to know you are pro-cheater and your anti-Obama hatred knows no bounds. I'd think you are relieved he is not leering at white wimmen. |
| I'm just not that surprised. I'm good friends with a married Secret service guy, and to hear him tell it, a lot of them have a lot of affairs, or girlfriends in all the cities they visit. Hopefully the prostitutes were of legal age and doing it willingly (i.e. not being trafficked) - for me, that makes it less of a big deal. |

Umm, I have a news flash for all of you who are shocked by this -- it's been going on for a very long time! Secret Service agents and members of the US military have solicited from prostitutes for as long as their agencies have been around. The men who are involved can travel at a moments notice 365 days of the year, and or are sent to war or at to sea for months at a time. When and where do you think they are going to have their needs met?
I am married to a military officer and I traveled with Secret Service for years -- there is no scandal here, other than getting caught. I don't want to condone it but it is a casualty of their career and loneliness. If congressional hearings are scheduled, this will be devastating to many careers because of the number of people who have used prostitutes while traveling both abroad and in the US." Bingo. I have no idea why this is news. |

#1 this is legal in Colombia
#2 Colombian women are the hottest on the planet. Why is this news, why are they being sent home and why is this shocking? |
| And yet, if it were a DCUM husband, everyone would be calling for the man to be castrated. It is not okay. There is no excuse. Many of these men are married. In one stupid move they've killed their careers, ruined their marriages and embarrassed a nation. |
I am not surprised that they use hookers, jut suprised that they were stupid enough to get caught. Based on what I read it seems that one guy did know he was supposed to pay. Duh! |
It's news and they are being sent homne because it has security implications. Why don't you get that? If your husband was having an affair and his boss knew that, he would own your husband at work. |
Give me a break. Just because a man is away from his wife/partner doesn't mean that he's going to use a prostitute. He's not an animal. If he's lonely, he makes friends. He doesn't hire a prostitute. These secret service agents weren't even gone that long so what's their excuse? There is none other than their leadership has allowed a culture in which this type of behavior is acceptable. They knew when they took these jobs that there might be significant travel and that prostitutes were off limits. If that was problematic for them, they should get out of the service. Sounds like it's time to clean house. |
| whats the big deal? prostitution is not an "affair", it is legal there and the girls are gorgeous. Any guy not taking advantage would have a screw loose. |
| All of the secret service agents I have ever met drink and fuck a lot when not working. Not a surprise. It's a culture akin to a fraternity. |
| Columbia has risen in tourism and is not like it was in the Pablo Escobar days. I have a friend that lives there. He said the women are the hottest women on the planet and he's been everywhere. He said most of the prostitutes are independents. Since its legal, they don't have pimps |
Because the secret service and military guys are prohibited from engaging in conduct that is illegal in the US even if it's legal in the country they are in. They are also prohibited from engaging in conduct that is legal in the US but illegal in the country they're in. Whether it's legal or not, prostitution or an affair, they're not allowed to have sexual relations with foreign nationals without prior approval from their supervisors. There are many reasons why those are the rules - and they are significant reasons which is why it's a far bigger deal in their line of work than if they were private citizens. In addition to rules violations, the conduct brings great shame to them, the offices they represent and, therefore, the US government. Can you not imagine how security was compromised by their behavior? They weren't there for a pleasure trip, they were there to assure the safety of the President. This is a major failing. |

"Colombia is a shithole mired with drugs, corruption and ineffective leadership. Like Mexico the only reason that country exists is due to the trillions of dollars theyve received from US taxpayers. Now go back to growing cocaine in your coffee plantation.
YOU IGNORANT!!!! GO BACK TO YOUR CAVE |
Exactly! If they go to a country that has decriminalized drugs, they can't do drugs, for example. And part of the reason they have to report and obtain approval for relations with foreign nationals is that they risk being put under pressure or coerced by a foreign government (they can threaten the foreign national if you don't do this or that or the foreign national could be an agent of the government sent to target you and obtain information) and this risk multiplies infinitely if someone like a Secret Service agent is married and having a relationship with a foreign national (they can threaten to tell your spouse, for example if you don't play ball). And of course it happens. But it's not supposed to. |
