Secret Service personnel sent home from Colombia amid allegations of misconduct

Not sure this really fits into politics. What a stupid, irresponsible thing to do in their positions:

The Secret Service is investigating allegations of misconduct by agency personnel preparing for President Barack Obama’s arrival at the Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia, including that at least one officer solicited a prostitute, according to media reports.

A dozen Secret Service workers were sent home this week. They were replaced by others on site. The service overstaffs on international trips by bringing more agents than needed should one become sick, according to the Los Angeles Times.

...

The AP said it received an anonymous tip about one or more federal agents soliciting prostitutes. A U.S. official told the AP that about a dozen personnel were sent home.

Adler told the Post that the entire unit was being recalled for investigation.

He later told the AP that he had no specific knowledge of wrongdoing but had heard the accusations related to prostitution. Although prostitution is legal in Colombia when conducted in “tolerance zones,” soliciting prostitutes is considered inappropriate by the Secret Service, according to the Post. Additionally, the Post reported, several of the agents sent home are married.

Cartagena has a history of problems with sex trafficking, Politico reported, and there are nongovernmental organizations dedicated to the issue, Politico reported.

GSA and now the Secret Service! Fire them all! And bring them up on as many criminal charges as possible. So sick of these types of so called civil servants.

Bastards! That's why we'll never be able to save our women and children from poverty and humiliation. Stop the sick bastards from looking for prostitutes and educate these young ladies to make a living of something that will bring them pride, self worth and income.

I know two men that work for the Secret Service and have been on the President's detail. They are both upstanding guys and from them, I have always assumed the culture there is of respect, professionalism and over-achievement. When I first read this story, I wanted to shout out, 'let's hear more before making assumptions!'
But the more I hear today (via the news) is that the Secret Service is understaffed, underfunded and has had to cut corners, including really thoroughly vetting their staff.
Now I am beginning to think they are not the exemplory protective staff I had always imagined they were.... still curious to hear more, so I don't draw my own conclusions.

Maybe they could have used the $800k+ the GSA wasted on extravagances.

God..I just don't care. Ifit's legal there and on their down time..only concern if they gave out secrets during pillow talk. I am surprised they needed to go this route to get laid. I find those guys really hot..love their athletic look and the dark glasses.

This isn't comparable to GSA. This is a security issue vis a vis the President of the United States traveling abroad and is far more serious.

Big trouble if any of the prostitutes were victims of human trafficking - a not outrageous scenario.
