If Baltimore were as popular in real life as it is on this board, the city wouldn't be empty and destitute. It's the Detroit of the East Coast. Just goes to show how bizarrely this board skews away from the mainstream.

baltimore is not empty by any stretch. its population is stable or slightly increasing.

Welcome to Charm City! What neighborhood are you moving to?

Houses on Monument Ave for a song (by DC standards), the James, the Byrd & shopping at funky places there, Better restaurants all the time, nice gay community, Museum District, ART...only bummer is smaller job market.

Richmond is becoming quite the foodie town. Lots of movies & TV shows are shot here. AMC is in town right now filming a new show about the Revolutionary War. Housing is affordable and runs the gamut in pricing. Public transportation would be nice.

Second link shows that Baltimore populations is expected to increase. The first link shows decrease, but that has stabilized since.

I am not sure why are you so upset that some poeple prefer Baltimore. It is an older settlement than DC because its on better location and has ocean access. When i walk around harbor i can smell the ocean and feel like i am in a sea rown. I also much prefer it architecturally as I don't like the unform sterility of DC.

The Harbour is the only safe place in town. I'm not upset, rather I find the skew of this board funny. Baltimore is a dump.

NP here. Locust Point is such a great little neighborhood! Nice people, close to the harbor, and there's a complex nearby with a grocery store, gym, salon, restaurants, etc.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

For me:
Live: D.C.
Work: D.C.
Play: D.C.

All DC, all the time!

None of that can make up for VA jurisprudence/politics, which needs to catch up to the 21st Century, signed a VA attorney who lives in DC

Richmond, DC then Baltimore. The only thing Baltimore has going for it is that it's cheaper.

My niece is at Univ. Richmond and nephew is at VCU now-- and WOW! It's the first time I've been to Richmond in about 20 years.

I was super impressed. The bars and restaurants are much cooler than DC....and the architecture reminded me so much of Dupont/Georgetown (where I live, btw).

They had a real, live 'running of the Bulls' and tomato festival last August. It was the coolest thing ever.

I don't know in my 40s if I'd want to live there-hmmm..

DH went to school in Baltimore so there is love--but it is grittier/blue collarish like Cleveland/Detroitish.

Can I pick Boston?
