Am I delusional, or do I actually look good in shorts?

I bet you look adorable, OP. I wear shorts and am nowhere near as petite as you are. I agree, shorts are totally in fashion, and if you are proud of your legs, show them off.

And shorts are totally in this season despite what these DC "unfashionistas" are trying to tell you. They're probably just jealous because they're all pushing 40 and have cellulite...and I'm not usually snarky but you ladies need some of your own medicine back at you. I can't believe you're telling a 105lb woman that she has gross legs and knees. WTF!!!

THANK YOU! Some of these responses are insane!

NP here. Please explain to me why skirts are always preferable to shorts, yet swim skirts are a bad idea.

Jcrew shorts like this, without the belt. These are 1/2 inch longer than mine, but hit me where they hit this model because I am short. http://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/shorts/PRDOVR~41938/99102396965/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~17+4294967047~90~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~shorts/41938.jsp

and I won't post my bag, but a nice small yellow tote.

And for reference, Reese Witherspoon is my height and age and probably a bit heavier. I'd say Eva Longoria Parker and I were the same proportions when she was a bit thinner.

I'm laughing at myself here. Maybe I do have too much time on my hands?! Or maybe I am easily amused at nap time.

OP ignore the haters! I tell you- I'm 38, 5'2 and 120 lbs and I wear shorts often in the summer. I like my legs so why not! Not booty shorts - more like shorts you showed on your pic. I was just with my best friend at the park after work with our kids yesterday and she was wearing a fitted top and shorts, AND she's a year older than me, but taller and skinnier. My point is- it's not about the age. If you like the way you look in them, go for it!

Wear your shorts, OP.

I am early twenties, childfree, fit, and I look awesome in shorts. I see older women with children who are not-so-fit in shorts and guess what? I don't care! As long as it covers your cheeks, I'm sure you look great. Who really spends so much time judging how other women look in shorts? Probably just women who are insecure with how they look.

Another older poster who lives in shorts during the summer.

I am 45 years old. 115 pounds. And a runner. My legs look amazing in shorts. I don't wear short-shorts (except running, of course). And I probably wouldn't wear shorts to a restaurant or to the mall. But hanging around the house, at the park, at the grocery store....hell yes, I'm wearing shorts.

The haters are either

(1) Fatties with no self-confidence. And I should add that I would still wear shorts even if I were overweight.

(2) People who desperately need surgery to remove the stick imbedded in their ass.

Obviously, there are places where shorts are not appropriate. But I don't think that's what we are talking about here, is it?

Personally I think you would probably look better in anything else OP. I am also thin and 30, FWIW, and I think shorts generally look stupid or lazy or casual in most settings, on most people.

So at the park, fine, it's ok to be casual some times. Out in the city, I think it makes you look lame. In Florida or Hawaii, it's fine. All about context in my opinion.

I am a fatty with no self-confidence, but OP, I say wear your shorts proudly! I'm sure they look great on you, and anyone who looks at you and thinks that for whatever reason you or your shorts look gross isn't worth worrying about.

Your shorts are fine, OP, especially if you like and are comfortable in the outfit. I'm sure you look great. Ignore the anti-short poster(s).

I personally do not like shorts on me other than when I run/exercise. I do not care if other women (or men) wear shorts though. Personal preference.

Who are all these women that act like 30+ equals granny legs?

People who desperately need surgery to remove the stick imbedded in their ass.

the same people that chop their hair off and stop wearing make up the minute they give birth?

OP - why do you care what other people think? Everyone, including you, are entitled to their own opinion.

Do what makes you happy and if anyone disagrees, who cares?

And is anyone's coments really going to change your mind? Or just make you feel bad about your choiuces - which is typical of DCUM.

If I weighed 105lbs I'd just run around naked.

Wear your shorts, fat legs and all. Seriously. I see people of all body types wearing shorts and it really shouldn't bother anyone.
