Am I delusional, or do I actually look good in shorts?

Well I could care less if you don't like my 35 yr old toned, tanned legs in shorts. I'm not trying to impress you. I wear what makes me happy.

Well. This is DC and I think there are different standards for different locales.

Ditch the fitted tee, add a loose fitting shirt, no cleavage. Add a couple inches to the shorts. Switch the flip flops for espadrilles or nicer sandals.

I've seen statements thrown around like, shorts don't look good on anyone, of all the polished women I know, none wear shorts, etc. I'd like you to tell me if you think I'm possibly kidding myself, or if it is indeed possible that shorts look cute on me. Do they REALLY not look good on anyone?

First, I'm a SAHM. I have a 9 month-old and a 2 year-old. I am 30, almost 31. 5'2 and 105 lbs and in good shape. I have nice legs, and I wear the shorts short. 3 1/2 inches, cuffed, with a fitted t shirt, and flat sandals and a cute tote from Boden. Do you think it is possible that I don't look schlumpy?

Sweetheart you are clearly bored. Get a job.

Myself included--although mine are skinny and toned--I feel ridiculous walking around that way unless the temps are in the 90's. Longs shorts always--just above the knees at least. Unless you're 25 and have runner's legs NO ONE wants to look at your fleshy thighs and bulgy knees rubbing together! It's DISGUSTING!

Get the fuck over it. There are lots of things more DISGUSTING than that.

Who gives a hoot what someone else wants to look at? Shorts are weather-appropriate clothing for hot summers.
This reminds me of the horrible notice that they handed out during sorority rush telling us that it was ok to wear a coat (in the freezing Ithaca winter weather), no one would hold it against us.

I think shorts look like gag on 99% of grown women. I wouldn't be caught dead out of the house in a pair of shorts.

However, I don't care if other women want to wear them and look like crap...so go for it OP!

My God, ladies!

You may as well throw in the towel and invest in a chastity belt and corset.

OP here! Just to clarify, I am providing links to my exact outfit, but I won't post a picture!

Jcrew shorts like this, without the belt. These are 1/2 inch longer than mine, but hit me where they hit this model because I am short. http://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/shorts/PRDOVR~41938/99102396965/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~17+4294967047~90~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~shorts/41938.jsp

T, shirt with a white cami underneath: http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Womens-Tops-T-shirts/Short-Sleeved-Tops/WL576-GRN/Womens-Sapling-Essential-Short-Sleeve-Sco.html?NavGroupID=18

flat sandals: http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Womens-Shoes-Boots/Sandals/AR459/Womens-Twist-Slides.html

and I won't post my bag, but a nice small yellow tote.

And for reference, Reese Witherspoon is my height and age and probably a bit heavier. I'd say Eva Longoria Parker and I were the same proportions when she was a bit thinner.

I'm laughing at myself here. Maybe I do have too much time on my hands?! Or maybe I am easily amused at nap time.

Your links look cute to me! I am almost 32 and working on getting back to my ideal weight (slowly but surely). However, that does NOT mean that I will suffer through a DC summer in jeans (the person that suggested skinny jeans has clearly never been outside in July or August). Those women that look down on you for wearing shorts clearly have issues with their own bodies.

Also, I just wanted to say that I like your color combos!

If you really find that seeing a woman wearing shorts is "almost traumatic", I suggest you seek professional help. You clearly have issues with your own body if someone else's thighs make you feel disgusted. It truly makes me wonder why you even notice. Please get help and do not pass on these ideals to your children.

OP these ladies are f'in craaaazy. You weigh 105lbs!!! I'm guessing you look pretty freakin' good in shorts. And you're young. And shorts are totally in this season despite what these DC "unfashionistas" are trying to tell you. They're probably just jealous because they're all pushing 40 and have cellulite...and I'm not usually snarky but you ladies need some of your own medicine back at you. I can't believe you're telling a 105lb woman that she has gross legs and knees. WTF!!!
