Yukon Denali vs Yukon Denali XL

I got a Winnebago but all the neighbors complained. It was cool!

Dude, our much smaller truck can fit two carseats and two dogs and two adults, three adults if there is only one carseat.

We do not need nearly as much room as we think, and I am seriously disturbed at the idea of a city dweller buying such a huge truck for one baby.

It's obscene.

OMG . . . and people are shocked that some Americans haven't saved enough for retirement. A $60K vehicle for two adults and an unborn child? Because you need the space??

Even if you get great financing, that will be about $1K per month. For your car payment. Probably another $400 or so per month for gas.

Don't you want to retire? You realize people have mortages less than that, right?

Just don't try driving that Yukon down the streets of Georgetown! You'll be taking off side mirrors left and right. 8)

No. But we do sometimes go on trips in the car. Two kids plus all the crap we need to go anywhere fills up a Tahoe fast. Plus, we often have out of town visitors, which means, we have to take two cars to go anywhere with our two kids, the two of us plus out of town guests. If we were expecting a third child, we'd be back to the dealership for a 3rd row SUV in a heartbeat.

PS- We live in the city and don't really have a problem with the size of our vehicles other than the Tahoe not fitting into some parking garages.

PPS- I'd be more than happy to trade in my SUV for a Prius or even public transportation if it would have any real measurable impact on the environment.

I can't believe the Tahoe doesn't have a 3rd row seat! What is the point of it being so huge then?

Tahoe has a third row that is removable. I actually like the Expedition better, since the third row folds into the floor.

Of course Kwame Brown and Mayor Gray prefer the tricked out Navigator, so to each their own, right?

Thank you for the financial advice. We can afford it. We would pay cash for it.

And that China and India are not part of the discussion as to any solution. So there IS NO CHANCE to stop the growth of global CO2. Not going to happen. Nothing we can do will stop the huge rate of increases.

So to the extent climate change is real, and to the extent it causes problems, all we can do is engineer around it and plan better.

get the kind of car you want, that works best for your family[b].

Yes, engineer around and plan better for climate change....as long as it doesn't inconvenience OP.

OP, have you checked out an Escalade? I hear they are way fancier than the Tahoe or Yukon and have a butler that will load the baby into the car for you.
Anonymous
The butler will also sit in the back and blow cigar smoke out the window.
Anonymous
No way a butler! That is the one reason I would not think of buying an American car! But now I will have to check it out!

Just checked the online specs - butler also loads the truck for you!

Got a Suburban when one child was age 7, the other age 2. Now No.1 child is 22, we're still driving it (138,000 miles later). Lived in Glover Park, worked in Dupont Circle, now live on Cap Hill, never had an issue with size or parking. It's a free country, you do what you want to do, but be honest with yourself, Ms. "We'll pay cash," and take if from a Suburban driver--an SUV is not a vehicle, it's a character flaw.
