Yukon Denali vs Yukon Denali XL

Anonymous
We've just had our first child and are planning to get rid of our small coupe and getting an SUV. We plan to have more kids and have heard from a few friends who own a Yukon that space can get tight with 3 kids in the car and all their stuff. Parking won't be an issue, we have a garage. Just wanted to get thoughts from other Yukon drivers out here.

Get the XL and also get ready for people to give you crap on here for getting such a big care but F them

When you go on a trip with all yoru baby gear and other kids the XL gives you the 3rd row and the space for luggage

OP here. I'm from the South and every one of my friends has either a Tahoe, Suburban or Yukon. I don't care what these DC women think. Plus I've seen quite a few Suburbans here in the Palisades.

Being southern does not entitle you to a SUV or ignorance.

Please consider your impact on children's future when you make consumer choices.

By the way Al Gore is a southerner too, why not follow his lead instead

We have the Yukon Denali. We have 2 kids with no plans for more, but we do have a 75 pound dog who travels with us. I think DH would have preferred the XL, and periodically he will note how much easier packing would be with the XL. I honestly fought hard against the XL. I periodically drive his vehicle and had no interest in driving something that big. We travel 8+ hours to the midwest 6-8 times/year plus a beach vacation, and we haven't had any issues yet with not getting everything in, even at Christmas. I do wish the third row folded flat instead of folding up into the 2nd row captain's chairs as that seems to take away a fair amount of cargo space. If I had or was planning on 3 kids though (plus friends), I can see how the XL might make more sense.

Why don't you just buy a school bus? It has lots of room and probably gets as good gas mileage. And yes, be prepared for the animosity you will receive on the road and elsewhere. If you need a gigantic vehicle and you have the money to throw at one why don't you look into a Tahoe hybrid. At least you will be mitigating your environmental damage and maybe save your kids lungs while you're at it.

So we have a Southerner and a Midwesterner offering us insights into the provincial mind. Very interesting.

At least OP's post will help those of us in urban DC point out that the Palisades might as well be in the 'burbs.

Great idea! This one would be fun:

Yukon makes a hybrid too, but the mileage is 20/23. My Prius spoiled me!

OP here. Thank you for your (unwanted) political advice. Please let's stay on topic. And I believe I have my answer provided by 10:08.

ugh. STFU about the climate change nonsense. Do you realize that China (and India soon behind) emit more CO2 than the USA now, at numbers growing at huge percentages every year. And that China and India are not part of the discussion as to any solution. So there IS NO CHANCE to stop the growth of global CO2. Not going to happen. Nothing we can do will stop the huge rate of increases.

So to the extent climate change is real, and to the extent it causes problems, all we can do is engineer around it and plan better.

get the kind of car you want, that works best for your family.

10:18 you said "Shut the fuck up" ... wow! simmer down

CO2 another way the Chinese are eating our lunch. OP get that SUV maybe we can catch up!

You are right that china and india are a major problems and that the their growth is unprecedented. But US is 2 in global emissions and per capita we are way ahead. Don't you think if we stemmed our rapacious consumption of chinese goods we might slow things down.

I agree. Climate change is here and we will have to adjust to the reality. I don't think that means we through up our hands and trash the planet.
