Called a Bimbo over crossing guards?

But we don’t need high school crossing guards. Fairfax is the only nearby jurisdiction that had them. Budget responses showed there were not accidents in those areas. Of course there might be more if the guards are removed but we don’t know.

Hm, I wonder if a crossing guard might have helped the two girls murdered outside of Oakton High a few years ago.

No. They were not hit in school area.

I find it stunning that anyone could see this exchange and say SHE is the one who looks bad here.

That is likely our Dem activist who always supports everything SB does. In this case, it is "party over School board"

He should resign or be fired. What a tool.

I cannot imagine why she chose to air this dirty laundry. (It invites speculation about what she chooses to do in her personal life!) Poor judgement.

Posting the screenshots was crass.

Because a guy called her a bimbo? Why would one speculate about the recipient of that comment? That’s on him.

Fairfax Democrats are a mess. And I say this as a Democrat.

He issued an "apology" last night on his Facebook page:

"I used an inappropriate term while referring to School Board Member Meren that was disrespectful and wrong, and I apologize for it.
Substantive disagreements are fair to discuss, but I should have expressed those views professionally. That language does not reflect the standard I expect of myself or the level of respect owed to my colleagues and the public we serve."

He’s sorry he got caught?

That lady is amazing. Once in a while someone else is there and it's a MESS.

That intersection absolutely needs traffic direction.

I hate the work Meren has done but she's totally in the right and he in the wrong on both behavior and policy. Politicians are the worst. To call someone a bimbo in a group text with them in it is appalling.

It's not the end of the world. Like a previous poster has said, name calling has been around forever. It's not right but come on, there are bigger problems in this world. Bimbo also is such a mild word. I think Meren does a lot and might be one of the few members that actually cares about the kids in FCPS but I am also offended how the school board spends money as if it grows on trees and funnels it to Gatehouse rather than teachers and schools directly. Their idea of budget cuts are a joke. The fact is that everyone is probably dealing with less money. Fairfax County, FCPS, the families in Fairfax, etc. Folks need to prioritize and do a better job at saving and cutting out the fat where they can...the problem is no one wants to. Remember the guy who said he wanted to kill someone's family? Didn't he just get voted in? Now that, that's egregious.

I'm not sure what she was hoping to accomplish by posting this and publically embarassing the chairman of the BOS. Meren could have been much more effective as a leader if she had handled this behind the scenes and used some political skills. Imagine what she could have gotten for the students and staff of FCPS if she had sat down with McKay and come to an agreement instead of a unhinged social media post.

How is it professional for Meren to post what she did?

Nope. From the texts posted, she first asked him to clarify if he was calling her a sexist name. He could have apologized to her then and there and I 100% believe it would have ended there. But, no. He doubled down on his language with total disregard. By posting it, she brought more attention to her cause ..which is that safety of students (even 15 and 16 year old ones at a high school) matter.

I don't like Meren but I applaud her for posting it and exposing him for who he is. People deserve to know. Many high schools need crossing guards to keep accidents from happening. I would say McKay needs to go, but we will probably get someone way worse and leftist so probably better off with this snake than a worse one.

Meren looks bad all the time. In this instance she's managed to pull McKay down with her. I guess he finally heard enough stupidity come out of her mouth for long enough that he was no longer able to remain professional.

This is what women all over the US are dealing with from many men in the workforce and at home since Trump made it acceptable to call people names publicly and especially in politics. I applaud anyone who brings it to light.
