Street racing and takeovers are out of control in MD

Just because someone didn't get into a car accident when they were driving recklessly 50 mph above the speed limit does not mean this behavior is not extremely dangerous. Waiting until someone innocent bystander gets killed or seriously injured to charge someone does nothing to protect people from their lawless behavior.

They're now so brazen that they even hold up signs for their tiktok channels at their takeovers in Chevy Chase because they know law enforcement won't do anything. How long do we have to tolerate this disgusting antisocial behavior until they kill people? They're racing all over local roads going 110 mph.

Ooh let me answer this! Because when I was at court for my own parking tickets one of those guys was in court for speeding. He shows up in a racing jacket. No lie. The judge reads his speeding ticket charge for going about 110mph and amount due and he shrugs at the judge. (A lot of those guys are wealthy coder types and a $200 ticket is nothing.)

Well the judge tacked on a reckless and some other charges. Threw the book. Hit him with it. Told him to see the clerk about paying 10x that original ticket.

But that’s how I know.

Street racing in Reston is different than taking over the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and East West Highway near country clubs and one of the richest neighborhoods in Montgomery County to do donuts at high speeds while cops watch helplessly. You know that too. This is the equivalent of some thugs taking over Washington Street and Route 7 in Falls Church City and doing donuts at 110 mph while the Falls Church cops sat there and did nothing, which has never happened and will never happen because VA is not a failed state.

You cannot simultaneously drive 110 mph and do donuts. Pick one. If you're going to use hyperbole to make a point, at least don't be dumb about it.

It’s wild to see people here defending the street racing and takeovers. A few years back there was a group that would come to Ocean City, Maryland in September and take over the streets for the weekend. It was organized on social media. The police clamped down hard and ran them out of town. They then moved onto Wildwood, New Jersey where two innocent people did get killed by the reckless driving of one of the takeover participants. There were other serious accidents as well. But I guess some of you want something like that to happen on your local streets? Why? Are you so committed to your liberal identity that you have to defend anything that Republicans dislike? I have never voted anything but blue and the takeover and street racing stuff is very clearly a threat to public safety.
