Street racing and takeovers are out of control in MD

Anonymous
Well, I’ve read about Trump’s plan to have some sort of “Grand Prix” this summer, with cars racing through downtown DC . As much as I condemn the takeover of streets by random drivers, it’s interesting to imagine what penalties might be appropriate when their toddler in chief is making plans to do all of that — and more. Not sure when the cage fight on the White House grounds is scheduled, but I’m sure I’ll have suitably appalled comments and reactions then too. Trump’s life-goal is to be an extra for the Dukes of Hazzard.

+1. The DC MPD should be out there ticketing the Grand Prix drivers for speeding and reckless driving.

The dmv police do nothing, everyone is driving 70+ on 55 mph roads

People are so incredibly rude. We need people to be more worried about what other people think about them.

How is this affecting you, OP?

It’s not. You just want something to complain about.

Exactly. Unless we can find actual harm to a person, not the state, these things shouldn't be a crime. You have a right to face your accuser.

Idiot wannabe Fast and the Furious clowns in their POS modified cars are ruining the quality of life for so many people around them. The local police are useless, because they'll refuse to go after them. The hoodlums also know they can race all over roads and cross county lines between MoCo/PG or go into DC and police will have trouble following them.

It has been so bad recently that you can hear their ridiculously stupid cars for miles approaching midnight on Sundays. They are so loud people on social media think there are jets flying over DC every weekend night because they think there are sonic booms from jet engines when it is just idiots in their cheap junk rice burners with modified exhausts.

PG and MoCo govts are worthless. The state of MD needs to being the hammer or change laws so these miscreants cannot evade by crossing county lines. They should also make it way easier to impound and crush cars that do this crap. There was a recent video of this human garbage doing a takeover in Chevy Chase and the cops being worthless. They're now so brazen that they even hold up signs for their tiktok channels at their takeovers in Chevy Chase because they know law enforcement won't do anything. How long do we have to tolerate this disgusting antisocial behavior until they kill people? They're racing all over local roads going 110 mph.

Yeah, I hear them on New Hampshire Ave. It's nuts, but if you think the State of Maryland will fix anything, you will be disappointed.

You will not be able to face your accuser, because you will be face down, flattened on the road after they have run you over, fool.

Not PP. These people make roads unusable. When you try to use them, they think nothing of putting a child’s life in danger.

It's not a non-issue if you live close to a chosen spot. I saw that bit on the news. Why don't businesses put gates up at their parking lot entrances and close them at night? Problem solved.

The news just had a piece on driving doughnuts at 3 a.m. in a parking lot off Southlawn.

They do this because their are no repercussions in the DMV area. Change the politicians and change the judges and it'd be different. But these guys don't care because we don't care enough to be tough on crime. Find me a progressive politician or judge that will sentence these people to significant jail time. There aren't any.

These aren’t even remotely similar. During a race they would close roads, control crowds and pedestrians wouldn’t get hurt
