And because I have to

Jhonor

But now it sounds like a boy name

Everyone in the US will pronounce it like banana. And if you spell it any way other than Hannah everyone will spell it wrong and she'll never be able to find her name in any store selling things with girls' names on them.

It’s so crazy to see people acting like Hawn-uh isn’t a completely normal (and original) pronunciation. Yes Hannah is a more common way to say it in the US but in Jewish and Muslim tradition (and Japanese) Hana the way OP has it is incredibly widespread. I pity people’s small worlds

I know a Hanna and she says it Hawna and most people get it correct once she tells them.

We say it haw-nuh (like yawn) not hanne-uh (like banana).
In my mind Hannah and Hana both have pretty assumed pronunciations. But what about Hanna? How would you assume one says it?

don't do it, she'll spend her whole life correcting people

Nothing to do with small worlds. The OP asked how we would assume one says Hanna. And most Americans (including those who are aware of the alternate pronunciation) would rhyme it with banana.

People will correct it when you tell them but you have to be okay with many getting it wrong initially.

Love Hawna unique, said the right way and easy to spell - your kid will thank you.

Maybe use chana? That's the only one I'd pronounce differently

It’s crazy that you so confidently and with such aplomb speak on behalf of 2 billion people.

What Muslim tradition are you referring to for pronouncing the name Hana? That of Muslims in the USA? Or Central Asia? Malaysia? Pakistan? Saudi Arabia? Nigeria? Egypt? You’re lumping together billions of people with different cultures and native languages.

I also can’t speak for all the 2 billion Muslims and their tradition, but can tell you that at least in Arabic, the name Hana comes from Al-Hanaa which means the bliss. And the “a” in “ha” is “aa” no “aw”.

I agree. If I see Hannah or Hanna I think the banana pronunciation. But Hana the other.
