Hannah, Hana, Hanna

I’m from NY and I say the aw in yawn almost like I say the o in coffee, like a stereotypical NYer would say it. Cawfee. Yawn. Hawna. Is that what you’re going for? Or is it more of an AH sound like ON?

That’s a good point. I assume OP is going for Hah-na like how you say ON. I would pronounce Hah-na and Haw-na the same way. That may be the source of some of the problems.

I think you’ll be fine, OP.

No Hawna. Never heard that. That doesn't even make sense it's more like Hon-na.

You’re not very bright. What PP wrote is literally how Hanna or Hana is pronounced. Have you never heard those names pronounced?

No, nobody I know pronounces names like that. Hannah/Hanna are pronounced the same, rhyme with banana. There is no W so why is there a silent one?

Hana I would pronounced I said Hon-na. Again no silent W. On and awn are not pronounced the same at all.

Shawna with a silent S

In the US people will say Hannah like Hannah Banana.

Use a spelling of Hawna.

What about Hanan?

“Hannah Hannah bo-banna" is a rhyming phrase from the 1964 song "The Name Game" by Shirley Ellis, which uses a formula to create rhymes for any name. The rhyme scheme is: "Hannah, Hannah, bo-banna Banana-fana fo-fanna Fee-fi-mo-manna Hannah!".

+2

Going to see my Hana (friend) today. I think it’s a great name (better than Hannah) and pretty rare but easy to say/spell

Those two words are pronounced the same in many (most?) regions in the US.
