What is Wrong With This Falls Church House?

By way of comparison, the only single-family house in the Langley HS district for under a million is outside the Beltway and appears to be a tear-down. So they shouldn't have a hard time selling this house at all.

Nobody is going to buy this house with the high school in mind. Whoever buys it will either not have kids or have little kids. It's a starter home.

Lol. No such thing as a "starter home" anymore, now that houses like this cost a million dollars.

Under contract.

Exactly. No one is getting their dream home and everyone around there works it out. As PP said, this is one of the only homes in the McLean school district under a million and I’d rather live in this home than a nicer home in Falls Church HS or the Justice HS district. There are still couples around that are “losers” like us and make :gasp: $250,000-$300,000 a year. A house like this at the top of the price range for that HHI.

It's a narrow street too, which mean street parking on both sides would be difficult.

And you'd be an idiot. There are plenty of places in suburbia where parking is a non-issue, and this neighborhood is one of them.

I’d also be an idiot then because after the snow we just had in not dealing with neighbors and parking

DP. Give it a rest. The house quickly went under contract.

+1

Under contract within 24 hours of the open house. I'm guessing around 1M. We'll see.

No one the buyers are moving there with a high school kid.

Your post is unintelligible. The house went under contract very quickly, despite all the supposed negatives some posters were eagerly trotting out (most of which were unrelated to the high school assignment).

Right, love when threads like these are posted and everyone is quick to point out every negative with the house. Makes me think all these people commenting have perfect homes - perfect layout, location, school district, etc. Bottom line is even at this price range and with a “poverty” $250-300K HHI (which is mine and my wife’s range), you are not going to get everything you want in a house.

…that being said, my remarks haha - no basement is interesting, could be a good thing but given just the one family/living room with no real space for a TV (above the fireplace is no bueno) is unfortunate. Would think from the outside that upper floor would be at least 3 BR but I guess the walk-in closets and laundry room eat into the space. Walk to the metro advertised as 20 min but Google says 33 min.

The title of this thread was "what is wrong with this falls church house," and then people get angry when the posts are about what is wrong with the house? We were answering the question that was asked. The real estate cheerleaders who can't tolerate any criticism of any house are exhausting.

Usually that’s a question asked when a house has been listed and is then sitting for an extended period. This house had just been listed and went under contract quickly.

Post your address and we’ll be happy to tell you all the things that are wrong with your house. You’re implying every house is fair game for criticism, so this shouldn’t be a problem. We’ll wait.

lol my house is perfect, don’t need a bunch of randos knowing where I live.

This house has so many things wrong with it but the school ain’t one of them. If you have junior in the McLean pyramid, they’re guaranteed to be extremely successful and wealthy one day. People sometimes underestimate the value of great schools. Same with the Ws in MoCo.

You're really dense. I didn't ask what's wrong with my house. The OP here asked precisely that question about this Falls Church house. I guess this was your house because you appear to be offended that people posted criticism about it. This is exactly why people think that agents or sellers post these threads.

This house appeared to be listed at like 200k under what one would expect. That is another reason people ask this question, and it’s a good question. We will see what this house went for, when it closes, but I bet it’s 1 million.

In other words, crickets.

And, no, not my house.
