Disdain/Anger for Young Women on DCUM

Young women are routinely portrayed as entitled, spoiled, selfish, or lazy, and are often blamed for nearly every problem in a relationship. The level of scrutiny and negativity is striking.
What’s particularly off-putting is that much of this criticism seems to come from middle-aged women who also describe themselves as feminists. Whats going on here? Why does DCUM hate young women?

Have you ever tried working with this supposedly college educated group, both male abd female? I have and it is not easy or particularly pleasant. I had to send one young (24) woman home because on a very hot day she wore short shorts and a halter top to the office. I'm sure some of the men loved this. One young male hired as a junior staff writer couldn't spell or write a complete sentence.

The hate for young men is 100x the hate for young women.

I haven’t noticed, and if anything, I’ve seen a huge amount of vitriol and disgust flung toward mid-aged and older women.

It’s a misogynistic site, generally.

I'm 53 and I think women that age are lovely. After speaking with them, I usually come away happy that "the kids are all right." I like hearing their dating stories and asking what they are reading or listening to. Actually, the men that age seem nice too. I love having friends and acquaintances of all ages.

Well, there’s, you know, the patriarchy. We are all misogynists.

DCUM is an equal opportunity hater space. I see all women disparaged regularly. Your too young too old too fat have an eating disorder you need to be a SAHM you need to be a CEO.

The only way to win is give zero effs

have not read full thru. I think there is a lot of mysogyny, for all ages of women, on dcurbanmoms. report it when you see it. that's what Jeff told me. the problem is, it's rife throughout much threads, and I don't want to spend my time reporting posts.

lol says a man. you have NO idea what women go through on a constant basis. It becomes background noise, but the stress it takes on you is there just the same. How many times has the average man had his body grabbed or been flashed or intimidated by a stranger? That is one of a multitude of facets of life where women face overt and covert hostility.

Maybe it’s because they are often entitled, spoiled, selfish, or lazy?

I've always found it pretty funny that these same women are likely complaining about misogyny or bullying while also being vile to other posters on here.

I'm 43 and agree, it's all women. I think the worst of it is towards older women/boomers/MIL if anything.
i

Maybe if you whine a little more the situation will get better.

I haven't noticed this specially. I agree the site has a lot of snark in general. I think there are more negative posts about boomers, MILs, etc.

Honestly for those of us in midlife dealing with kids and various stresses, a lot of 20s mindset and "problems" just seem kind of small (relative to how they felt at the time I.was going thru them) - it's hard to take them as seriously and yes condescension comes thru. Ppl that age are probably better off on a forum that doesn't have this name. Most posters are older.

DP. I'm a woman and have no doubt the PP is too. People like you blame *everything* wrong in your lives on men. You are constant victims and it's beyond tiresome. There are far more great men out there than terrible monsters, but all you want to talk about are the bad guys. Move on.
