She’s not assuming— she knows. That’s why she’s giving them the big tip. |
This. I've been meaning to put lights up, but it's been unusually cold and I don't feel like freezing while I hang them (which is already not very fun!) |
That’s so nice of you! Thank you for sharing this. 🥰 |
Except it's not completely correct. It depends on OP's intent. If she was counting number of houses and the amount of items on each house it would be fewer. But if there is a general feeling of less it is less. For holiday decorations, use fewer when talking about countable items (e.g., "fewer ornaments," "fewer wreaths") and less for general quantity or uncountable things. "Fewer" applies to things you can count individually, while "less" works for bulk or abstract concepts. Actually, if I were to correct the grammar, I would say it is less holiday decorating, not fewer holiday decorations. |

I live on Capitol Hill and I feel like there are as many decorated houses as always.
I am perhaps seeing fewer inflatables which I think is good -- I hate them. I am find with tacky decor, which can be fun, and like elaborate displays, I just specifically hate inflatables so if that trend is passing, hurray. But I see tons of lights, Christmas trees in the windows, Santas and signs in yards, etc. It seems typical to me. |
| Energy prices are high. A good percentage of power use in Virginia is going to power all the NOVA data centers. In Virginia, energy prices are expected to double by 2030 to power all the data centers. Yeah, people are putting up fewer lights outside. |
“Illegal” is a MAGA term from FOX News. They are likely brown people from Spanish-speaking countries and these are the people being kidnapped without due process. Troll guy knew that though. |
Lol you assume that Hispanic hard working people are illegal (because you are racist) and are just ignoring that ICE is grabbing legal immigrants and American citizens and putting them in jails and moving them every 30 days making it impossible for families to find them and get them proper legal representation to prove their innocence. |
This post is a good reference for that thread about controlling, Type A, overachiever women and whether they exist in the non-profit, do-gooder world. Smug superiority? Check. Condescending "lesson" wrapped in the guise of just sharing details about her life? Check. Guilt trip? Check. Logic that falls apart under any scrutiny at all (anyone who has a staff of five regular landscapers can afford to give them a tip AND decorate and give gifts if she wants, decorating and gift giving is something most people do for others not themselves, you can give gifts that aren't "commercial crap", and the outdoor decorations OP is talking about are the one kind of holiday decor that actually falls more to men than women so it's not about "feminine responsibility")? Check. |
+1. Hoping to do it this weekend. |
| I guess the OP is talking about exterior decorating. I slap a wreath on the front door and call it good. |
|
Not feeling it this year. My kids made a half-hearted attempt to decorate the inside but even they are just not that into it.
Part of it is that I'm just sick of being the one to do all of the baking, decorating, gift-buying/giving, planning, etc. So I'm dialing it back and kind of following my kids' lead as to what is important to them. So our outside may not get decorated at all this year! |
This. Have you looked at your electricity bill lately. |
| I threw a wreath on the door and that's it this year. Between the cost of electricity and my lack of holiday spirit, that's the only thing I'm decorating outside. |
Out of curiosity, what is the correct term for people living and working illegally in the country? Because they are breaking laws. You know. Actual laws. Am guessing you didn't care when Obama deported so many illegal migrants, eh? Or is it just an excuse to be angry with Turnip? |
