| All the work from home people are back at the office and now complaining on the "mental load" thread. |
People's incomes are not down... https://usafacts.org/answers/are-wages-keeping-up-with-inflation/country/united-states/ Private sector employment (the kind that generates prosperity) is up, while public sector (the kind that slows growth) is down. My joy is just fine. What is changing is that women are increasingly abandoning responsibility for traditions because they are too busy making money to pay someone else to do things for their life, instead of just doing it themselves. Also up? Single person households with less margin for extra tasks. |
| I’m putting lights up this weekend and intend to keep them up through February. There just white lights so I think it will be ok. |
Pathetic attempt at a troll post. You may need to hire someone to write better posts for you since you can’t handle this well by yourself. |

I’m not putting up a tree this year at all, or participating in gift giving or receiving.
I just don’t find anything to be festive about this particular year, celebrating a holiday seems oblivious right now. (I guess I’m just one of those lazy greedy woman whores abandoning my feminine responsibility for traditional decorating, oh well.) I actually used my usual gift budget to triple the annual tip to my landscapers, and I gave it to them in October. It was $1500 for five guys. I don’t envy their families having to hide and live in fear every day of being pulled over and don’t know what they are doing without this year. No one in my extended family needs more commercial crap than they already have. |
| A lot of people did get laid off from work and sold their houses. |
| I’m phoning it in this year. We’re traveling over the break, and I’m just looking forward to getting away. |
Why are you assuming your landscapers are illegal?? |
Good for women. I’m done with traditions that mostly fall on us to plan and execute. You can’t push us into roles we no longer want. |
+1. It's like everyone got tired after putting the Halloween decorations up. Maybe closer to Christmas. Maybe we'll end up reverting to the 19th century when people decorated on Christmas Eve and celebrated until Epiphany! |
|
I’m not into it this year. I did indoor decorations but nothing outdoor.
The constant assault on my Fed job has been draining this year and I need to scale back with threat of yet another shutdown. |
| I'm a fed and just don't have as much time with the added commute. It's also dark when I leave and dark when I get home. I'm actually still working to get my christmas tree up at home. |
+1 The only somewhat truthful part of this is that women have most of the holiday work. |
Add in all the $0 umemployed people are making and you will see in fact overall income is down. But if you are saying the rich get richer yes i agree with you |
+1. I’m a single mom, and I keep domestic work to a bare minimum. We do a tree but that’s it, no other decorations. Honestly expectations for parents, employees, etc have gotten completely out of control. There’s no bandwidth for anything else. |
