Thank you! Sorry for being so particular but what time in the morning do they mean? |
It’s not like a set time. We usually ask around 8:30 or 9am when we wake up. But it’s not a big deal if we don’t get it. Why is this so intense for you? Either you get it or you don’t and you move on. |
NP here. For me sometimes it's a big deal because I want to sleep in and relax. Or got to the hotel swimming pool and then come back and shower and pack. Other times I want to have a place to take work calls, etc. |
But some days it just doesn’t work out and you don’t have any control over that. I don’t think it matters how you ask - it’s if they have the ability to do it or not. |
| See if they have a day rate. |

You sound so entitled and whiny. No one is owed late check-out. So either you get with the program, or you pay for one more night. |
Dear Lord. We all want that. People don't always get what they want in life. Those are luxuries, not necessities. You know what the check-out time is. Deal with it. Your relaxation time should be planned better, while you still have the use of the room *on the other days*. Or at home. |
| Like everything else it's gone downhil |

Ask what it would cost to check out at ____ time.
Often, like any business, they want to know what exactly you're asking for. Quite often, if you at least suggest you know there could be a cost, they aren't as annoyed you want something for free. Now that they aren't annoyed with you, often they will grant it free if they can. |
The person who thinks the housekeepers will be “left idle” and will “run out of rooms to clean”, they typically clean 14-17 rooms per shift. They don’t have a lot of down time. The room has to be cleaned after you use it, regardless of when you check out that day. And if there is low occupancy they just won’t have a lot of housekeepers on staff to begin with. |
You mean "I would like", going around saying I want I want I want is tacky and toddler-ish |
3pm is the standard check-in time for several chains. 11am or 12 noon are the usual standard checkout times. One likely will not be the only room asking that hotel for late checkout on that day. The room doesn't clean itself -- the hotel will need an hour or two to clean all the late checkout rooms. Cleaning people are non-exempt and usually also are part-time. Hotel has to pay them to wait or pay them to come back. You seem oblivious to how this all works, because your request was (and is) laughable. Instead, ask if there is a day rate for your room. Paying that will help the hotel with the extra cost that comes with making a cleaning person stay late. |
| There are so many people who check out early too though. I know it's an unknown game but generally it works. Housekeeping can start on the rooms who left at 8am. |

So Op wants a 3hr extension to the normal 10 (or 11am) check-out which means she's there until 1/2pm?
Yea, I'd laugh at you too. You're practically staying an extra day at that point. |
Marriott platinum are guaranteed 4pm checkout. |
