At Marriott, I rarely have an issue with ~2 hours of late checkout. I am life Platinum, which is mid-tier status. How late do you want to checkout?
It’s another chain and they only gave me an hour (I asked for 3 when prompted and got basically laughed at)
3pm is the standard check-in time for several chains. 11am or 12 noon are the usual standard checkout times. One likely will not be the only room asking that hotel for late checkout on that day. The room doesn't clean itself -- the hotel will need an hour or two to clean all the late checkout rooms. Cleaning people are non-exempt and usually also are part-time. Hotel has to pay them to wait or pay them to come back. You seem oblivious to how this all works, because your request was (and is) laughable. Instead, ask if there is a day rate for your room. Paying that will help the hotel with the extra cost that comes with making a cleaning person stay late.
