What do you think about tattoos?

It’s like when you see a woman. Tattoo. Instant no go. Same for nose rings and anything more than 1 or two ear rings.

White trash that is an instant no go.

DCUM always cracks me up on this subject, it is very revealing about what the average person who posts here is like. Here's Pew Research on tattoo prevalence:

"Adults under 50 are especially likely to have a tattoo. Some 41% of those under 30 have at least one, as do 46% of those ages 30 to 49. This compares with a quarter of adults ages 50 to 64 and 13% of those 65 and older."

So almost half of American adults age 30-49 have tattoos, but people on DCUM continue to claim they are low class, interesting.

In Europe, especially Northern Europe, tattoos are even more prevalent. Where's "I'm from France" poster to drop in and tell us how low class she finds tattoos?

Anyway, for those of you who are lamenting what these tattoos might look like when people are 60, know that just as tattoos have become more common, so too has tattoo removal, and the technology has advanced quite a bit. It's not uncommon at this point for people to get one or two tattoos in their 20s, live with them for 30 years, and then remove them. Older tattoos are easier to remove and take fewer appointments to remove, especially if done with black ink only and located on your torso.

So go ahead and get that tramp stamp, that shoulder rose, or the philosophical quote on your ribcage. If you ever decide you don't want to watch it droop and fade as you get closer to death, get thee to a Removery and move on with your life.

Tattoos are really no big deal.

They're all ugly.

52 years old, never had one

Don't care for the look

Still, maybe would be open to a peace sign or grateful dead dancing bear tattoo.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

+1. I used to dislike them and don’t have any myself, but I think they look fine on musicians for example, especially the rock genre.

I think of them as mistakes that I haven't made.

I was surprised to learn that women are a lot more likely than men to have tattoos. And 68% of lesbians have tattoos - the largest percentage in the survey.

And the older you get, the more the bear will dance.

My personal opinion (which I would never share in real life) is that a tattoo ALWAYS detracts from someone's beauty, man or woman. I can't understand, for example, while a beautiful celebrity would do this to him/herself.

I don't mind them at all, but I don't have any myself

This topic comes up from time to time on this forum which shows how relevant some people may think tattoos are as society evolves.

I personally do not like them.
I mean, they may look cool on younger people - - but trust me as soon as people enter middle-age ➕ beyond, their tattoos will just look gross.

Because as we (all) age >> so will our skin and I think tattoos just do not age well.

I think those nose rings that look like they belong on a cow are truly hideous.
But a tiny nose stud, preferably something clear like a diamond looks very pretty on women who are generally very attractive.

I am 56 and female. I have 10 tattoos, all on my arms that I started getting aged 54 during a protracted medical crisis.

I love them. I don't need any more but I love the ones I have.

I see some tattoos on other people and admire them and sometimes I think they are disgusting, it normally depends on a) subject b) artistry or lack thereof c) if they are well spaced or crammed all together and horribly overlapping (or black outs)
