My DD heard back 9/14 after applying in late August in a previous cycle |
There are special bookable buses for students at the holidays. My Bethesda friend took Amtrak to MoCo (decades ago). It's not convenient but it worked back then. It's an easy 4 hour-ish drive from MoCo. Parental one-day round-trip is common. |
^Correction: Amtrak to DC Union Station |
Here is the holiday bus info page.

Is there a time of day that Pitt acceptances usually come out? |
Well, fcps kids won't be hearing from Pitt anytime soon. Due to an update to how they are organizing their transcripts, counselors will not be sending them out to colleges until October |
I don’t think they need an official transcript, they use the SRAR. |
What is the update? And Pitt doesn’t need the transcript. |
Pitt doesn't require transcripts, they use STARS. They also don't require or review letters of recommendation. Once you complete STARS and pay the fee, your application is complete. |
Do they have supplementals? |
no |
There are free app codes floating around every year |
They get released around August 15 and my kid wanted to apply right on August 1. But yes if you want to wait, the codes are floating around now. |
We tried to use one last year and it didn't work. It took the application, but we had to pay the fee later. |
They sent an email at the end of July that you could get a free application code by going to a virtual presentation 8/13, but DC was ready to submit and get the process rolling. In hindsight, I bet they’d be responding around the same time anyway |
