Daughter applied 8/1 and hasn't heard back yet, which we totally expected. A few Reddit and CC posts have received acceptances starting last night. Anyone in our area hear yet? |
did she apply via common app or from pitt's webiste? |
What date was OP’s kid’s portal showing everything was received? My kid applied 8/1 but everything wasn’t marked as completed for probably another week |
Direct via Pitt app: 8/1 submitted Pitt app and STARS 8/5 portal activation email and status shows as awaiting decision |
My daughter also applied 8/1 and hasn’t heard back. (Complete application 8/5) Dietrich. We had a great visit so really hoping to hear good news soon! |
is it "better" to apply via common app or pitt's direct portal? does one hear back sooner if applying through one vs the other? |
I think the Pitt app links slightly sooner (like one day) to STARS. |
For what it's worth, last year it took longer than I expected it to, even though my kid ended up getting honors and Pitt's highest merit award. I want to say it was mid-to-late September when we found out, despite her submitting the application in early August. Just sharing in case it helps folks adjust their expectations around timing. |
Are they still requiring the SRAR typed in transcript step? |
Yes |
i think if you apply early, pitt's app is faster. admission officer said they won't download common app until about two weeks after app is open. but it probably doesn't matter if you apply later. |
Fwiw common app reported it was downloaded the next day. Did your AO say that recently or previous cycle? Ours said it didn’t matter. |
Last year it seemed like a few acceptances trickled in (starting 9/18) then there was a big batch 5 days later (9/23) all from early august applications. Hoping that means we find out in the next week or so! |
In case it helps anyone... last year, DD submitted on 9/8 and heard back on 10/1. High stats, meh ECs, ended up with pretty good merit. |
This cycle - mcps has many zoom session this summer with different schools/different topics. One of them was Pitt, AO mentioned it there. |
